I had a lovely time at the cabin. Check-in was quick and there are sleeping bags, lanterns, pillows, sheets, firewood and a couple other things available for purchase/ rent at the check-in building.
I wish the cabins were better marked and the signage/ directions were better all around on the site was the only frustration.
Keep in mind that there is no electricity, at all, in the cabins, but there is a washroom area on the site that everyone shares. There is running water there for sinks, showers and toilets, but no hot water. Soap and toilet paper is provided.
The is a fire pit and a bench outside. Inside the cabin there is a table and bed with a mattress (no covers or pillow so bring your own). The bed was quite comfortable. You will have a lovely time here.

This was my second visit to Shoestring Campground. If you're looking for a camping experience without having to set up camp, this is the place. Sturdy shelter, real beds, secluded, clean, and so peaceful. My grandkids came to stay for one night and they had a blast discovering honeysuckle, snails, bugs that you only see in the mountains, and playing in the dirt. If you aren't familiar with camping and can't handle the occasional insect, this isn't your place. But if you love nature and love to camp, you've found your spot.
Second stay at Dogwood and had another wonderful experience. Quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. Recommend checking out Docs 321 Cafe in Cobsy. Good food, funky local spot.
I loved this cabin! It was the perfect level of "primitive"--we still felt like we were camping but felt safer and more comfortable sleeping in the cabin at night. My friends and I were worried about being 3 young women traveling alone, but Rhonda was a great host and made us feel super comfortable!
This place was magical. We felt incredibly remote while still being close to modern amenities and wonderful hiking areas. The roads were a little intimidating for us Floridians but after the first drive in, it was easier. The cabin (Bambie) itself was dry and kept us cozy and not too hot and not too cold. The bathroom is a walkable distance but driving it or bringing a bike would be the most ideal. They had awesome firewood on site and there was a picnic table on site also. The host gave us specific driving directions and make sure you follow them! The roads out there are um interesting lol. Overall a great place and a great location. Make sure you bring plenty of indoor and outdoor lighting as there isn't even solar lights here or anything. We brought our own fairy lights and that made the inside very comfortable.

Great spot all around! Beautiful grounds, clean structures, and private camping experience. My husband and I stayed in the Bambi cabin for three nights. The cabin was great and the most secluded as it is farther back from the main drive. Rhonda and her husband were great hosts.
