The host was very quick to respond to all messages, and met us at the campsite. The sites are lined along a grassy, large, open yard on one side and a tree-lined creek on the other. I do not think that all of the sites are on the creek, I am not sure. The campsites were not as private as I had expected, and her home was pretty close to some of the sites. However, she was very flexible about allowing us to choose a different camping location. And, that was awesome for us and, we really appreciated it! We were able to select a spot a bit further from her home and the other campsites. This hipcamp was not exactly what I had pictured in my mind and so, maybe a bit on the higher side of what I was hoping to pay for the location. Although, for being about 30 minutes from Gatlinburg, not too bad. Just be sure to look at all of her pictures closely and you will get more of a feel for what the location and sites are like.
All but one campsite is in plain view of her back porch and the road. There was trash laying all around, and junk piled up next to and in some of the campsites. There was a camper parked in one of the campsites that looked like it had been there a long time (the site was still available to book when I checked). The water tasted like sulpher (we wound up filtering water from the creek to drink). There was loud banging coming from inside the house at approximately 12am that woke is up. It sounded like either a terrible drummer, or someone taking a hammer to the bathtub. I am very disappointed, and I will never book here again. The creek was very nice, though.
