We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this gorgeous old workers quarters  into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy.

Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch). The initial fee is $60 per night, and $20 for each extra person staying in the cabin.

Extra camp sites are available which are charged at $10 per night for 1 person  using either a swag, tent, camper or caravan. (book via our second listing)

There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie a shower bag, provided). The room with an open fire can be utilised as a  kitchen/living area, and we have provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles, jaffle irons and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ with side burner in the open end room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only basic solar lights.    Talk to me about your needs.

Campfires welcome, either bring your own firewood or I can provide for $20 a large wheel barrow load. (book as an extra)   Dogs are permitted on a lead (we're a sheep farm).  Heysen Trail is close by - pick up/drop off available - talk to me about this.

Wonderful property and so beautiful. Loved the cottage and cooking over an open fire was so much fun. The space and views were photographic - great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of town. Within easy (20 mins) of the Clare Valley and wineries etc. best of both worlds for us.

Eckerts was the perfect stay for us. We were celebrating my Mum's 75th birthday. She hasn't been able to go camping for years, but Eckerts allowed her to enjoy a pseudo "camp" with us. We parked our camper trailer on the lawn and our son had a swag. We loved the country peace and quiet with some home comforts. So many old niknaks to discover.

Beautiful location, peaceful and away from others. Easy directions. The cabin has a lot of history and lovingly restored. Great fire indoors which kept us warm all weekend - the weather was very windy, cold and rainy but we’re were cosy. Plenty of fire wood was provided. Great to have a flushing toilet and rainwater tank providing water inside to the sink. Clean, tidy and comfortable. No one around so the stars are amazing! Definitely stay again. Thanks Chris and Philip.

We loved staying in "Eckert's Old Place". It is like stepping back 100 years staying in the old restored worker's cottage.

We were there in the middle of winter and the log fire warmed up the cottage room very nicely.

Wonderful restored stone hut. Lots of atmosphere. Comfortable and warm with open fire place. All you need for a stop over as a couple or group of friends. Chris was friendly and happy to have a chat about their farm and surrounds. Would recommend.

Although the weather was not the best , wet and blowing a gale , the cottage was cosy with the large open fire . The renovation of the cottage was well done considering the
“ before” pics … Chris was a delight to chat to on our meet and greet … definitely a place to come back to 👍
