The best times to visit Talkeetna are July and August, when the days are long and warmer, and the salmon runs are occurring. It's also a good time for camping comfortably and hiking around Talkeetna and Denali National Park. Days begin getting shorter in September and on through winter, but winter brings dog sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and the opportunity to view the northern lights.
