Relaxing weekend in the forest
I was in search of a place to relax in a forest without being cold in the unpredictable PNW spring. Ruby's Cabin delivered. Jay and Tamara have a beautiful, well-made, off-the-grid cabin with the essentials for a low-tech glamping weekend. Even the outhouse is pretty! You will probably see elk, which is very cool. Jay was friendly yet gave us space, so we knew we could ask questions if anything came up. He is very knowledgeable about the sport offerings and fauna of the area. They have a great place and I am glad they decided to share it more widely.
Two things to be aware of: currently the shower situation doesn't have a real stall. Ask the current setup before depending on that shower. Also, the stove doesn't last all night, so if it's going to be cold, prepare to either get up and re-stock or just bring a good sleeping bag. We were cozy warm because we had good bags.
Private clean cabin stay
Wonderful experience in a secluded new and clean cabin. Everything you need for cooking and hanging out is provided. It would be great for groups with plenty of space to spread out tents. The fire pit area was awesome with many chairs and a tools.
Great spot for solo or group trip!
Ruby's Cabin is absolutely perfect inside and out for a rustic yet well-equipped escape for a small group or solo retreat. I was solo.
Fire pit and cooking area is perfect for reading a book and catching some sun / stars next to the fire OR a group social spot. Cabin is spacious and well stocked with lanterns and sundries, comfortable seating and sleeping areas. Plenty of firewood provided as well.
Jay was an absolutely perfect host. My only complaint was that I only booked one night.
Group camping night
This place is awesome. Jay was super responsive - Even took time out of his day to help us troubleshoot a split party with no cell reception. The space is very peaceful and beautiful. Definitely a slice of paradise we were grateful they are willing to share. We've already recommended the spot to our friends and family and will be back.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful Ruby’s cabin and the hosts are. The cabin and grounds are stunningly beautiful. Everything was super clean. It’s private, quiet and the property is gorgeous, very well maintained and expansive. There are wildflowers everywhere, madrone and a diversity of pine trees, shade and sun. The stars in the night sky were brilliant. The details, down to the very unique antler door handle on the cabin, to the stained glass pieces, mirror and saloon door on the ‘outhouse’. There is running water with a real sink, plenty of paper towels, wipes and the composting toilet was actually very pleasant. The day bed in the cabin was super comfy with an foam topper and plenty of room.
The host, Jay, thought of everything and more! You would have have everything you could possibly want or need and then some, all down to the very last detail. Even going so far as to mark out trail maps on the property, and I do suggest you walk around and enjoy it all. I walked up the bluff for an amazing view of Mt Deception. There are also books and forest maps for the area, and Jay is a great local resource as well. I loved taking a solar shower in the woods under a green canopy of trees on the lovely stone pad, with earth friendly and beautiful scented shower products provided. The camp kitchen was very organized and clean and has not just the basics, but everything you could possibly need. The cabin and outhouse are works of art, lovingly crafted and very well maintained. This place was outstanding! Wish I could go back right now!
The happiest place on earth
Staying at Ruby’s cabin is like stepping into a time machine & going back to your summer camp days as a kid. The cabin is in a very secluded part of Jay and Tamara’s beautiful property. It has excellent views, trails surrounding, and so many amenities all while being off grid. The cabin itself is beautiful and is fully stocked with anything you might need during your stay (lights, bug spray, batteries, a mattress pump + more!) The kitchen nook is just as beautifully built and also has everything you could need including pots/pans, soap, sponges, a camping stove, and a ton of drinking water. The outhouse & outdoor shower were very clean. The fire pit is great and has more than enough wood to keep your fire going for hours while you fill your belly with s’mores. Meeting our host, Jay, was definitely a highlight of staying here. As he is so very friendly, knowledgeable of all the activities to do in the surrounding area, and has a heart of gold! Overall, we all had an amazing time, including our pup who was thrilled to have so much room to roam. Spending the night here was a magical experience and definitely was not enough time, we WILL be back and next time for much longer. We’ll be checking our calendars as soon as we get home so we can book again ASAP!
Relaxing cabin on large parcel
My fiancé and I had a fabulous stay at Ruby’s Cabin. This recently built cabin was handcrafted by Jay himself, and the workmanship shows; every detail has been considered to make for a comfortable stay. The cabin itself is very private, sitting in the middle of a large parcel. I enjoyed sitting out on the porch watching the meadow and feeling my stress melt away. Getting into town was easy and Ruby’s cabin made a great base camp for all our adventures in the area. Highly recommend!
This was quite literally the best HipCamp
I’ve ever stayed at. The property and surrounding area were beautiful. The cabin was charming and well maintained and every detail, from the solar shower to the stocked outdoor kitchen to the chairs set up around the fireplace, were well thought out. If you’re a mountain biker, this place is central to some of the best trails in the Oakridge area. Jay was the kindest, most attentive host. We will be back next year!
