Are you ready to get away to a beautiful vineyard? On our property you will get to camp with awesome views of vineyard, coastal range, and nearly no ambient light at night!

Our property is 10-15 minutes west of Carlton, Oregon, nestled in the foothills of the coastal range. We own 62 acres, 17 of which are planted as vineyard. On the property we have our house, a winery, and a tasting room.

Be prepared to drive up 2 miles of gravel road with a short but steep hill. You will likely need good skills backing up to get into position.

I have 2 spots for RVs and a variety of locations for tent camping.  Please let me know which you will do so that I can plan appropriately.  There are times when I can only fit 1 RV/Trailer, so please include that in your request.

We are on a working farm and our camping spots can be in the way of the tractor.  As a result, staying more than 1 night, especially Fri/Sat is tricky. Weeknights are far more flexible because our tasting room is closed and our parking area is available.

Also note, as a working farm and we have crews here nearly everyday to work in the vineyard.  Please be respectful of the crew.

Update as we approach harvest: Fall is harvest time in the vineyard!  With this we will be limiting our camping, specifically RVs and trailers.  Normally we can fit 2, but I will be limiting it down to just 1 and only for 1 night at a time.  Please reach out before booking if you are camping in an RV or trailer.

Also, the birds become a problem for us in fall.  To help repel them from the vineyard, we use a bird noise maker.  It goes through a series of bird calls to scare them away from the grapes.  I mention it because it is loud in some spots around the property and it goes off regularly from dawn to dusk.  It is usually on for about 6 weeks before harvest.

About the winery:

Chris James Cellars is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery that produces unique and interesting wines in Carlton, Oregon. The vineyard was planted in 2012, with additional blocks planted each year since. In 2015 we produced our first lots of Pinor Noir and Sauvignon Blanc and have since expanded our wine selection to offer hand-crafted lots of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Dolcetto, Lagrein and more. The tasting room is open Friday through Sunday, 12pm-5pm and by appointment.  Please visit our website to schedule a tasting (chrisjamescellars dot com).

Wow! What an incredibly pleasant surprise! Talk about a peaceful, off the beaten path, serene way to camp. The views by day were incredible and the sounds by night lulled us fast to sleep. Beth is an incredible host! The added bonus was waiting around another day of departure to taste wine. Whether you love whites or reds, there’s not a bad bottle. On the contrary, the ones we tried were all exceptional! The only downside to our trip is that we only had one night there. We will definitely be returning, because there was nothing but positive experiences!

I hate to leave a review because I want it to myself again. The host was great. So down to earth. The wine was great! Bought a few bottles without tasting and so far the sav blnc was amazing! I had two dogs that had so much fun running around bf playing. The place is fully fenced. I even picked wild berries at the fence line to put in my breakfast. So peaceful. Thank you for allowing overnight stays!

We had a fantastic stay at The Vineyard. Very relaxing and a beautiful property. The campsite we were given was under some trees next to the vines.

Camping here was a dream! I have never seen a more beautiful location. We set up camp and then had a wine tasting. The night was so secluded and relaxing. We will definitely be back.

Arriving at Bethany’s was amazing after a long day of travel we got there, ordered a wine tasting, meat and cheese and ended up buying two bottles it was so delicious. Great host and employees. Bethany showed us a new spot she was thinking of for hammock/tent camping and we ended up taking it.
