Holistic Life Farm offers a sweet dry tent site amongst the trees in our west pasture. Stop on your way to Astoria and the coast and make this your destination. Find us about 30 minutes off I-5 freeway across the Longview bridge or 45 minutes east of Astoria. Our farm sits about 5 miles off Highway 30 to the north. We are a working homestead and delight in sharing our daily experience and offer visits with our sheep, goats, cows and chickens.
The tent site will accommodate up to 4 tents. You will often find the sheep, cows or goats munching away in the next pasture over. The mobile chicken coop is sometimes located in this vicinity. Our hens like to announce when an egg is laid. It is quite fun to listen to in the mornings. Our refurbished compost outhouse is just a short walk from the tent site.
There is no electricity or water at the tent site so make sure to include lanterns and water along with your camp gear. There is a picnic table, and you might even be able to hang a hammock. What you carry in, please carry out.
There is no fire pit at the site. We are a no open flame property. We appreciate your consideration and understanding.
** Goat's milk cheese and farm fresh eggs for sale to campers. We are happy to provide price and availability if you are interested.
We can direct you to hiking and mountain biking trails in the area (Beaver Falls trailhead is 5 miles from our farm). There is a motorboat/canoe/kayak launch in the town of Clatskanie, with access to Columbia River. There is also a launch in the city park for kayaking. The Zen Monastery is just 5 miles away. Long Beach, WA is across the Columbia River via the Astoria Bridge. Lounging about the homestead works too.

Camping with the alders
We stayed three nights at the tent site on this adorable homestead. Becky and the other caretakers were extremely nice and helpful. The gravel road to the farm is well maintained and easy to travel. The tent site was cool with plenty of trees for shade and privacy. It was a little further away from the bustling parts of the farm so it was often quiet and extremely peaceful. The nightlife was beautiful. There were some unique PNW owl calls, distant coyotes, and crickets. If staying be sure to bring extra lights to guide your way around at night. Also go visit and take a dip at Beaver Falls! It’s 15minutes from the homestead and a well worth it.
I loved the peacefulness and privacy of the tent site! The entire place has a great vibe and everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Don’t underestimate the distance from your vehicle to the campsite. It’s down hill going in but then you have to bring it back up hill when you leave. :)
Very kid friendly!
This is a really lovely property that is incredibly well maintained. We loved our stay and found the hosts super responsive. Our kids enjoyed the interactions with Farmer Becky and the crew and we felt really safe. It was a wonderful piece of land to stay on and we’re very grateful that we had the experience.
Best hipcamp experience so far! Beautiful property, lovely secluded campsite, and a great opportunity to experience a fantastic agricultural project in action. They're humble about their approach to land rehabilitation, but they're doing the real and good work here. Plus, got to hold baby goats : )
Camping with animals!
We had such an amazing time. Our main goal was to have lodging for the night before continuing our road trip to Seaside, OR for surfing but we got so much more! There was a farmer’s market which Becky, the host, volunteered at and invited us to - we got farm-fresh drinks and baked goods while meeting really friendly members of the community. We even got to ring the bell to kick off the market opening. Becky had us try some of their home-grown strawberries which tasted amazing. And probably the highlight of our trip, we got to meet 1-week-old baby goats!!
The campsite was also beautiful, especially during sunset. It’ll be as if you’re transported into another world as you pass the majestic horse-motif gates leading into the farm. If you’re lucky you’ll also meet Myth, the farm’s guardian dog!
Highly recommend Becky and this campsite!
Bucolic meadow camping
Absolutely beautiful tent site. A short walk past the cow pasture (and a herd of rambunctious sheep), the area for pitching tents was well-managed and abundantly shady. The camp manager, Farmer Becky, was very kind and full of activity recommendations for places nearby. (Don't forget to ask about petting the baby goats!!) We are already planning a return trip later this summer. :)
Becky made sure I had everything I needed. My experience at 'Ol Alder Tree tent site was absolutely fantastic, just what I was looking for. I highly recommend them. My stay was peaceful, beautiful, and calm, a nice retreat from the busyness of life. Can't wait for another chance to return! Thank you so much!!!
