My dog and I loved our overnight stay at Cedar Root and we will be back soon enough. Brad was an incredibly friendly and gracious host! The property is so lovely, quiet, and serene.

Site #2 was very close to the main house so it was perfect for our trip, centrally located, and close to the main fire pit. We camped out of the car so a portable hot plate could have helped with our timing, but we really enjoyed all of the wood tables and stumps to choose from. Brad even gave me some really great recommendations and pointers for in town fun also.

The driving directions took me exactly to the front gate with ease. There is good enough cell service throughout the property and it feels very safe. The camp sites are well spaced a part and the trails on the property were really well maintained! There was a recent storm and you could tell that the brush/ trees had been cleared for guest use. The cedar wood sauna was a terrific experience and easily my favorite part of the stay. Do bring a face towel, face wash, towel, bathing suit/ robe, and flip flops with you.

Brad was an excellent host, and his campsites are very nice (and quite varied!) We have a teardrop trailer, so we were in site 2, which allowed us to back the trailer in and was a level spot. There is a lovely fire pit between site 2 and Brad's house that we used several times to keep warm.

Site 1 also looks like it would accommodate a van, but Sites 3 and 4 are walk-in only, and are very spacious and forested and are near a small pond. Every site has it's own fire pit, and Brad has some firewood for sale. The shared composting toilet is funky and fun, and is located closer to site 3.

We arranged to take a sauna; the building is quite lovely, but our first fire went out and we had to restart it, so it took a while for it to get hot in there. That wasn't a problem for us, since it was a rainy evening and we enjoyed being warm and dry while we waited for thinks to heat up. There are candle-holders but no candles, so if you plan to sauna, bring some candles with you (like some tea candles) with you, and definitely bring a big towel or two. Brad provided wood and instructions prior to our sauna time.

Brad's place is only 40 minutes from SW Portland - an easy drive - so it was a perfect base for visiting my son and his family. Maybe the closest available camping there is to Portland.

It loved camping here so much, in the midst of the forest and it's beautiful greens, the owner was so nice and very informative, very kind and respectful, the land felt magical and the camping spots were really nice, we went during the spring but the ground and everywhere was really nice to camp in unlike camping in other places.

This land is in a gorgeous rural area, and is heavily covered with woods and trees. We stayed in an overflow site that was very quiet. No neighbors anywhere nearby. Had a nice fire while watching a movie on our laptop without disturbing anybody. Didnt feel like cooking breakfast the next morning so had coffee, cocoa, and pancakes at an IHOP about 20 minutes away, delicious. Then went back for a morning walk in the woods. Lovely time, and a very nice quick getaway from Portland.

A nice walk to a meadow is available. The overflow site can fit a small camper but site 2 can take a big one.Hanging in the overfloe site. There is a walk to sites 3 and 4, and a wheelbarrow is provided to help with gear.

I had a lovely winter escape to Cedar Root last weekend. My dogs and I camped out for a night just to break the “at home” routine and I came back so refreshed! The sauna experience was wonderful. I loved the essential oils and the therapeutic process of adding wood and pouring spring water on the rocks to crank up the heat. As a solo female camper I felt very safe and I can’t wait to go back!
