At Penny Creek, you can expect a private and quiet camping experience or just the opposite should you decide to venture into the surrounding community.
I have worked hard to clear a grassed area on the back acre of our 7 acre property. This beautiful and peaceful space, available to you and your friends and family is surrounded by mature trees and wildlife. There are sunny and shady areas and we have been working on walking trails on the large wooded hill that protects one side of the property from the wind.
If serenity is what you're looking for, maybe you will set your tent up beside the creek. The gentle rippling water offers a relaxing ambience and a guarantees a deep sleep. We often read or write in this space. There are various areas for tents to be pitched, out in the open or under the trees.
A 'master' fire pit in the middle provides a great spot to cook, sing, strum or just relax. (firewood provided). Another smaller fire pit is on the edge of the creek. Horseshoes, bocce and other games are available for use. A few steps away from the campground area is a small cabin with a shower and a washroom and running water that is available for you to use. It also has a fridge where food can be stored and ice made.
There is golf course and Lake 10 minutes away that offers excellent paddling and can be swam in. On Saturday nights there is a race track 1km away. There is a pond and children's playground (Ontario's smallest provincial park) that also offers swimming a five-minute walk away.
On those mornings when you don't feel like preparing food, there is an excellent Mennonite breakfast restaurant a short stroll up the road. All these amenities (groceries/LCBO/shopping/cafes/hiking/horseback riding) are within a 10-minute drive yet the site still feels private.
Although the area is large and can accommodate a dozen or so campers, we have chosen - for now, to keep the space reserved for a single group of up to 6 people. This ensures that your time here will be private. That said we are happy to interact with our guests and assist in planning excursions should you be looking for things to do in the area. P.S we make coffee every morning!
