Amanda was super helpful and the park was really well looked after.
We really loved our stay! We were lucky enough to have the campground (and the park) basically to ourselves for almost the entire time. It was incredibly quiet, especially after dark. The electricity worked great with no issues. Only minor quibbles: the water at our spot wasn't working when we arrived (although they were working on it that day), but there were plenty of spigots to fill our tank. And the path into the campsite is very rough, meaning the pull-through is really more of a back-in. It wasn't an issue for our tiny travel trailer, but I could see how it might be difficult for anyone with a larger rig. Amanda (camp host) was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Overall, we highly recommend it and hope we'll have the chance to stay again!
What a hidden treasure! Book right now and pack your bags. Amanda, camp host, was so lovely and took amazing care of us. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a safe and fun stay. The camp and walking trails are beautiful. The walking trails are perfect for a family hike. My kiddos are 10 & 11 and it was easy but still challenging enough to be fun. Bathrooms where clean and very well taken care off. We went with some other families, and all the kids loved the playground, and ruin stone. You can hear the train from the site, but once I fell asleep it didn’t bother me. We cannot wait to go back, thank you for having us.

It was a super nice and clean park with great sites and amazing views. The hiking trails were great and Amanda went out of her way to make it more comfortable and accommodating. It was a very nice park with very nice people! Would definitely go back.

Thanks for the great review. We appreciate the feedback. You are welcome back any time.
We stayed one night at Runestone on a cross country trip from Wisconsin and were really impressed by both the park itself and Amanda who hosted. We had site UP for our 13 foot scamp and had no issues parking our trailer or finding the site. Check in was seamless and Amanda was very helpful with any questions we had. Our site had electric hook up and a large pavilion with 2 grills and a large fire ring. The bathrooms were under repair but she had accommodations in another location which worked just as fine. There was a shower house with a clean shower room and a space to both hang clothing and set items so getting dressed was a breeze. The campsites are located on top of the mountain that Runestone is located on so you have a beautiful view of town when the darkness sets in. The runestone was a short walk from our campsite and we enjoyed having something special to check out on our stay. This is a gated campground at night so we did feel very safe and were able to leave early with the gate code provided. I highly recommend Runestone and thank Amanda for her hospitality!

I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your short time here at the park. It was nice visiting with you. The UP site is one of the more popular sites for sure. Thankfully the restrooms were repaired the next morning but I am glad we had the alternative to allow campers a clean bathroom and not a stinky portapotty. We would welcome your lovely family back any time. Can you believe the shower house is the original restrooms for the park. We love that we came up with ta way to make the old rock building useful again. Glad to here that set up worked well for you. Thank you so much for the fantastic review of not only the camp site but the park and staff as a whole. This is why we do what we do. We love getting to share this amazing place with all who pass by. Safe travels.
I had such a good time here. Tall pines, gorgeous views from stop Poteau Mountain, good hiking, and historic interest. The park was developed in the 1950s and still has a lot of nice stonework.
Great site and wonderful host Amanda. Site was a bit tricky for our size trailer at just under 25 feet but we managed to set up quite well. Restrooms were clean and showers were clean and hot.
We picked the perfect time to stay at Heavener Runestone. The weather was beautiful, the trees were beautiful, and the park was very peaceful. There was a lot of activity during the day with hikers, but few overnight campers this time of year.
The site is very hilly and includes a pavilion with tables, which was great for our group. We had one tent with us and, while there was not a designated tent pad at this site like there are at others, we were able to find a relatively flat area to set the tent up.
The host was very helpful and responded to any questions within minutes. The listing stated that there was water available at this site, but the water was not working. The host offered solutions, including offering water hoses to assist us in tapping into the water at another campsite. Our camper was small with a small fresh water tank, so we were able to quickly fill our tank without the use of extra water hose, but I appreciated the effort to help resolve the issue. I believe they are in the process of fixing the water at this site.
We enjoyed our stay very much and it was a great ending to our camping adventures for the year.
