From the moment I messaged Jay to leaving his welcoming property, it was a pleasure staying the night. My husband and I were on a road trip and wanted to be spontaneous. With finding Jay so late I never expected to get a response, let alone as quickly as he responded to our booking request! We plan on coming back because Jay made our experience unforgettable.

We had a a great stay at Rusty's cabin. Our 7 year old loved the experience and had a great time meeting Rusty and his friends. Jay was very patient and prompt in answering all our questions before we arrived. As soon as we checked in, he gave us a detailed tour of the barn and the property. All the animals - the dogs, cats, horses and of course Rusty - are super friendly.

The loft is spacious, very clean and stocked up with all the essentials. It has a modern bathroom with clean towels and toiletries. There is a full kitchen with a induction stove, microwave, dishwasher and essential cookware. The large deck around the loft gives you a beautiful view of sunrise over the fields. We spent most of our time visiting the barn, going for walks around the well maintained property, paddle boating in the pond and sitting by the campfire at night.

Jay and Heather are very friendly and great hosts and go out of their way to make the guests comfortable. Jay is very knowledgeable and provided so much information about the land and the farming methods. He has big plans to further improve his barn and loft into a wedding venue which we hope to see done soon. He spent a lot of time with us and even offered us some delicious home grown tomatoes, figs and blackberries, which is truly appreciated. We bought some homegrown honey which is delicious. They are among a few people you might meet, whom you feel comfortable with immediately.

Overall, it was a wonderful and relaxing experience. We loved it. We will definitely be visiting next year.

When I had the unexpected opportunity to plan a short, midweek trip to celebrate my husband's birthday, I decided to check out Hipcamp. We were looking for a kid-friendly spot with comfortable accommodations in a country setting. Rusty's Loft checked these boxes and more. The loft itself is gorgeous - bright and sunny with a well-equipped kitchen and an awesome deck overlooking the pond and gardens. Our six-year-old daughter loved using the paddleboat, swimming, and sneaking up on bullfrogs alongside Jay & Heather's three friendly dogs. Another highlight of our two-night stay was visiting the barn across the road, where Heather introduced us to their charmingly quirky group of farm animals. We also took a pleasant walk along the stream and through a wooded area leading to the river. We definitely would have explored the trails more thoroughly had it not been so hot and humid. Jay and Heather were incredibly friendly, responsive, and helpful. They even offered to pick up my grocery order from the Fostoria Kroger about 7 miles away. Heather gave us a bunch of delicious homegrown tomatoes, and we bought and enjoyed a dozen fresh eggs and a jar of honey - all organically produced on the farm. We had a great stay at Rusty's Loft. I'm hoping we can return and maybe try some tent camping when the weather is a bit cooler and the river has some depth.

Great spot to relax and recharge after getting caught camping in a surprise thunderstorm the night prior :)

There's a nice deck to watch the sun come up in the morning and see the moon reflect over the pond in the night. Jay was super welcoming and the barn cats were very sweet, too.

My two boys and I stayed here on our trip back home from a long Summer road trip. What a wonderful find! We were warmly greeted by Jay and Heather, who helped us unload, gave us the tour and promptly put us in their paddle boat on their little pond to unwind from the road. We met all the farm animals (including their 6 toed cat!), and took the short hike along well maintained trails around the property, along the creek to the clear water river and back around to the enormous old barn that they are planning to make into a wedding venue. The Loft itself is clean and comfortable and cozy, light and bright, with a long balcony deck across the back with a wonderful view of the sunrise over the farm fields and also the stars at night. We loved our time here and definitely plan to return. We have stayed in quite a few Hipcamps and vacation rentals, and this place is now on our short list of favorites. Highly recommend! Enjoy!!!
