Not quite glamping and definitely not KOA, we're happy to offer you an alternative to cookie-cutter lodging without breaking the bank.

We are easily one of the closest, and cheapest, camping options when it comes to staying in Asheville. Only 8-12 minutes by car from downtown Asheville, we are a friendly, family-run outfit. The camping spots are in a small, private, green valley, and you’ll feel like you’re "out in the sticks" even though you're actually super close to all the breweries and parks that make Asheville what it is.

If you happen to be interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we own and operate a gym on the premises. You'd be able to attend all classes free of charge during your stay!

Amenities: Communal fire pit, picnic tables, outdoor sink with cold running water*, indoor toilet and sink (no indoor shower), outhouse, outdoor solar shower*, hangout spots

*Outdoor sinks and showers are closed November-April. Brrrr!

Full disclosure: there is a farm directly up the hill from us that can occasionally waft unpleasant animal smells (usually when they clean out their pens). No matter how often we tell them, the animals refuse to respect our quiet hours, so you might hear them at night. There is sometimes some noisy traffic in the neighborhood during the day.

Frequently asked question: "Can I sleep in my vehicle?" Yes! The parking area is separate from the camping sites, so you won't be able to pull right up to the spot. Plenty of folks do choose to sleep in their vehicles. The parking area is on a private road shared with elderly neighbors and other campers.

**Between NOVEMBER and MARCH, we can NOT GUARANTEE ACCESS TO THE SOLAR SHOWER due to winter weather. While we still allow winter reservations, please be aware that conditions are on the more primitive side of "primitive camping."**

(Another) Full disclosure:Our neighbor up the hill from us has Confederate flags displayed on his property. We understand the hurtful, disrespectful and ignorant nature of these symbols and really really wish they weren't there. The message they send is the exact opposite of everything we believe - tolerance, love, inclusion, equality - however, there isn't a whole lot we can do about it besides give y'all a heads up and let you know that ALL are welcome here at our campground and differences in race, color, religion, sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, and political belief/affiliation are things to be celebrated. Rest assured, the neighbor poses no risk whatsoever - he is an elderly man who has trouble moving around.

My husband is disabled, so the grounds here were difficult for him to get around. Very nice couple did their best to accommodate his needs. Thank you Robert and Amanda for doing all you could to facilitate his needs.

So I needed a quick one night stop over in Asheville where I could just car camp. Site worked fine. Was greeted on arrival to make sure I didn't need anything. Everything as advertised. Spent a quiet night and would stay again.

We loved our stay here. We stayed in our car camper bc it was cold at night. The hosts communicated really well. The indoor sink with warm water and bathroom were great. Everything we did in Asheville was less that 15 mins away. We also liked the theme of inclusivity. It’s not a cookie cutter KOA (as described) but we loved it. Can’t wait to camp out here when the weather gets warmer. Thanks for keeping it hip.

Such a cute camping spot! I stayed alone for it’s my dog and felt very safe. Clean facilities and super close to downtown & hiking spots!

I had fun staying at the Baying Hound Campground! Great distance to downtown Asheville and the Haywood area is 7 minutes away. Quiet, safe, and electric campground. Robert and Amanda are great hosts.

My wife and I had a great stay. We ended up sleeping in our SUV since we didn't want to bother with a tent. It was really great to have access to a shower and bathroom after a few days on the trail. Everyone we ran into there was very friendly and we would definitely stay there again if we come back through.

We had a great experience staying here (we ended up in the Hammock Site which had plenty of room for our 2-person tent). The campground was well marked and the location worked as a great launching pad to explore Asheville and the mountains near the area.
