Spiral Mountain is an herbal and agro-forestry farming initiative on 34 acres set in the pristine Appalachian mountains featuring a newly installed Lavender farm, walking trails, fire pits, creeks, forests and fields. The newly built log cabins are on grid, with electric, wifi and fresh filtered mountain spring water. We have planted roughly fifty fruit trees in our new orchard as well as several hundred native woodland medicinals — including goldenseal, cohosh, wild ginger, and false unicorn root. Hundreds of lavender plants have been installed and we are continuously adding more native and herbal species to create a robust herbal workshop community and foraging grounds.
Travel off the beaten path to a mountain getaway and enjoy the lush tranquil forest and fresh air. In this setting you can get away from the noise of city life and enjoy the real Appalachian mountains.
There is one cabin for vacation rental -- The Slippery Elm. The Slippery Elm is a newly built 2 story log home with one bedroom and a loft space, one full bathroom, porch spaces, fully stocked kitchen, bbq grill, fire pits, camping areas, comfortable dining and lounge spaces located 36 miles from downtown Asheville. The Slipppery Elm sleeps four with a queen bedroom downstairs and two twins upstairs in the loft. Travel down a beautiful winding road to arrive at a serene destination. If you are looking to get away from it all, here you will experience the peaceful outdoors in a camp setting with all the amenities of a resort stay. The property features a community cabin called Sassafras Lounge with laundry, showers and toilets. There is also a small oven and hot plate in Sassafras Lounge for those who want to cook there. Enjoy a bonfire, have a barbeque, play games, work on a book, have tea, explore the forest, enjoy the native botanicals, relax and be at peace in a beautiful and comfortable mountain setting. You can stay in the Slippery Elm cabin and also pitch a tent if you wish. There are 7 cabins on the property and you may meet other travelers and live-in herbalists and groundskeepers while having a full private cabin for your group. You may also camp on the property in one of our Orchard Sites.
We have many events on the calendar and you may choose to stay with us during one of our workshops where you can meet other local herbalists, herbal and agroforestry farmers and medicine makers and take part in our community driven event.
