All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
Get away from it all on a secluded mature wooded hill twenty minutes from the Ococee River. You can feel how old the Appalachian mountains are here. Remote enough and private but no 4WD needed (flat terrain to parking) and enough neighbors if needed (road running through property leads to subdivision by Apalachia Lake so has traffic on it.) To the right of the road is a creek and bog, to the left we have several acres of woods to explore and relax in. You will see an occasional car on the private road that runs below the Hut but on the hill, you will have complete privacy. We have also just put in a tent platform on the Northern edge of the property which you can access either from the road or through a rough path on the hill. It is a beautiful place to chill and hang out. Three of ten acres to the right of the road that runs through our property are a bog that runs along a creek with the creek joining wild remote Apalachia Lake. Enjoy hiking and exploring our seven gently sloping mature wood hills. There are also lots of well maintained dirt hillside roads for exploring or biking. Enjoy our Baba Yaga hut with only the bare necessities but you will be flat, dry and able to enjoy the woods all to yourself. Come explore and then chill away from it all.Enjoy our Baba Yaga hut with only the bare necessities but you will be flat, dry and able to enjoy the woods all to yourself. Please note that cabin itself is located on hilly property, but there is an [almost] flat spot in front of the cabin with a firepit. Also note there are no streetlights here. You will want to get here and set up before dark. Facilities, you will need to bring your own water. There is a path to a constant running crick. We have a battery operated handheld shower and bucket. And an organic compost toilet. If you have not used one of these before, you will be amazed at how well they work. Good ATT cell tower based reception. Not so good for Sprint based cell tower. Queen sized bed for which you will need to bring your own linens or sleeping bag. Air mattress if needed. We have a propane heater for which you will need to bring your own small 16oz propane tanks or purchase ones through us. Come explore and then chill away from it all.

Baba Yaga Hut
Baba Yaga…. We survived
Overall I would say price it on point. Cold dark sparse inadequate. We were on an overnight stopover and price was right. Other than that I think they have a good base to build off of. I am not a fan of all the incense and stuff shack just had to much odor of all that. If that is your thing great parking was an issue for me to far away from the hut. The review asked if I could reccomend and I honestly have 0 meanness when I say I just can’t in its current state. Had I took owners advice and just relied on heat and no bedding we would have near froze. It was VERY cold even with the little buddy heater. I don’t think it is safe to have the 20pd propane bottle indoors and storage of other fuels etc. Something’s there need to be addressed.

Baba Yaga Hut
Two Nights at Baba Yaga Hut
I found Baba Yaga Hut nestled near the bottom of a heavily wooded hillside just off a single-laned gravel road. The hill upon which the hut sits is inviting with a ridge on either side of a shallow gulley that rises in a crest to the top. The site’s host was considerate and provided many helpful supplies inside the hut like flashlights, lanterns, a small propane heater, a propane cooking stove, and candles. But the nicest luxury in the hut was the very comfortable bed. I slept straight through both nights without tossing at all. Also, important to mention is the privacy tent set up a little way from the hut, where a convenient outhouse is provided for when Nature calls. Just outside the hut is a small campground where sawed logs offer some rudimentary seating around a stoned-in firepit dug into the ground. Just the right size for a family of 4 to have a cozy evening roasting marshmallows fireside. For me, I sat read a book, pausing to meditate on the beauty of my surroundings and that much sought after silence that this kind of nature offers, not found in the city. Baba Yaga Hut is ideal for a solo-getaway, perhaps as a writer’s retreat location, or as a romantic spot for a couple seeking a quiet place in a forest environment. The hut also makes for a good “home base” option for the family who wants to bring along the children to explore what the surrounding area has to offer, like the local hiking trails, lakes, and of course the Ocoee River that is not too far away.

Baba Yaga Hut
Love the vibe
I really loved the vibe of the place. I dig those remote, out of the way places. The Hut itself was snug and comfortable and I didn't think I would use it but the propane heater really came in handy, it was in the upper 20's.. I also found Lake Appalachia that day. If your biking, it's an easy trek. This area is stunningly beautiful, especially this time of year. Can't wait to go back in the spring time
