NOTE: Solo travelers and families: This is a very private and safe place to camp! You will be alone in the space the entire time. My family lives on the premises so we are here in case of an emergency. You can camp knowing you are safe!

We own 35 acres and your campsite (The Grassy Knoll) is right in the center. The Grassy Knoll is about 2 acres. You cannot see my home from the road. When you arrive, you will pull to the front of the house and I will greet you and give you a tour. You will drive past the house, down the hill, and park on a gravel spot and walk into the Grassy Knoll. You can drive right up to your camping spot in the Grassy Knoll if you prefer. You are surrounded by trees on three sides and a creek on the 4th side. The Grassy Knoll is mowed and large.

There is plenty of room for outdoor games (soccer, corn hole, Frisbee, badminton, croquet, etc.). The creek runs next to you. The creek is not real deep so it is perfect for kids to play in. Some have strung their hammocks across the creek and napped listening to the sound of the water running over the rocks. Others have sat our Adirondack chair in the creek and soaked their feet while reading their latest book. There are minnows and crayfish too.

The horses will be grazing across the creek from you. Our horses are Shires! The Shire horse is a draft horse and listed as the tallest horse breed in the world. They are considered endangered. Be sure to say hello to them! WATCH YOUR FEET! You visit them with your own insurance so ENJOY THE HORSES AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Be sure to post your pictures so others can see how you enjoyed your time at Kohler Farms!

Most Sincerely, Dayla and Denae (mother & daughter)

We had such an amazing time. The hosts were very friendly at the check-in. We had so much space all to ourselves. Never saw another person while we were there. We were even lucky to be there on a Full Moon. Perfect view from the fire pit, Now, to the horses, they are such beautiful animals and very sweet. Just watching them from the campsite was great. We will definitely be back. We haven't been this relaxed in months. Much needed get away! Thank you for having us!!!!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at Kohler Farms. We were only able to spend a night but we felt completely taken care of while also having the perfect amount of privacy at the campsite. The hosts greeted us upon arrival with a thorough packet of useful info and local restaurants/shops and told us where to go/what to do if we needed anything. They told us that if we forgot anything they had us covered but otherwise would leave us alone. It was wonderful despite the cold temperatures. There was sooooo much free firewood and that got us through the night! The port-a-potty was probably the cleanest I've ever seen and was fully stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. There was also plenty of fresh water available.

We brought our dog for the first time and since he's a Golden Retriever, the first thing he did was take a dip (and a roll) in the creek and was living his best doggie life! haha The horses were milling about on the opposite side of the creek and at one point I did venture over to get and give some loving. One of the females trotted right up to me and let me pet her. But it was a beautiful property and a wonderful experience. We can't wait to come back in the warmer months. Thank you to our hosts!

We had a lovely time camping here! The location absolutely exceeded our expectations. We loved waking up to the brook beside our tent, seeing the horses and just enjoying the grassy knoll. All the animals were so friendly and such nice companions. Callie and Lacy (the sweet dogs) greeted us upon arrival and the horses all came over to the fence to say hello. We will absolutely be back.

If you're looking for a primitive private campsite, you won't find anything better than this one. although it's listed as not having power or water there is actually accessed both to blow up your inflatable mattress and charge your devices. There's an endless supply of firewood including kindling! There's a beautiful creature running past and a large pasture on the other side.

Response from Dayla & Denae, the Host, on November 23rd, 2021

Greetings, Kelly! Thank you so very much for all the detailed information. We are proud of trying to keep our site "primitive" but take as much as the primitive out of camping as possible. The creek is always a hit with our campers! So is the ability to stroll the large horse pasture and visit the horses or just stroll and enjoy the privacy! We are so glad you visited! We hope to see you again soon! Most Sincerely, Dayla and Denae

A private pastural paradise!

If you are looking for a primitive, private campground, you will not find anything better. Although Dayla says it is primitive and that there is no water or power, there is actually access to both. Water on the side of her house she welcomes you to use, and there is an outlet on the bridge, which is a hundred yards maybe, to charge your devices. There is unlimited firewood. There is a port a let on site. The place is huge and there is a stream running by and a huge pasture beyond the stream. There is a large Hill to protect you from the wind. It is a 5 of 5. Their two dogs and cat are just as friendly as the hosts.

Response from Dayla & Denae, the Host, on November 23rd, 2021

Hello, Kelly! Thank you for all the details! We try to make "primitive" as cozy as possible! We are so glad you could visit! We hope you can stay again soon!
