Welcome to Kohler Farms-A Shire Horse Breeder & the Grassy Knoll

2021 Upgrades: +8-foot Industrial Picnic Table +Little Tikes Picnic Table + Commercial-Grade Portable Toilet +Plenty of FREE Firewood & Kindling +Large Garbage Can +5-Gallon Bucket +Adirondack/sitting Chairs

NOTE: Solo travelers and families: This is a very private and safe place to camp! You will be alone in the space the entire time. My family lives on the premises so we are here in case of an emergency. You can camp knowing you are safe!

We own 35 acres and your campsite (The Grassy Knoll) is right in the center. The Grassy Knoll is about 2 acres. You cannot see my home from the road. When you arrive, you will pull to the front of the house and I will greet you and give you a tour. You will drive past the house, down the hill, and park on a gravel spot and walk into the Grassy Knoll. You can drive right up to your camping spot in the Grassy Knoll if you prefer. You are surrounded by trees on three sides and a creek on the 4th side. The Grassy Knoll is mowed and large.

There is plenty of room for outdoor games (soccer, corn hole, Frisbee, badminton, croquet, etc.). The creek runs next to you. The creek is not real deep so it is perfect for kids to play in. Some have strung their hammocks across the creek and napped listening to the sound of the water running over the rocks. Others have sat our Adirondack chair in the creek and soaked their feet while reading their latest book. There are minnows and crayfish too.

The horses will be grazing across the creek from you. Our horses are Shires! The Shire horse is a draft horse and listed as the tallest horse breed in the world. They are considered endangered. Be sure to say hello to them! WATCH YOUR FEET! You visit them with your own insurance so ENJOY THE HORSES AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Be sure to post your pictures so others can see how you enjoyed your time at Kohler Farms!

Most Sincerely, Dayla and Denae (mother & daughter)

If you are looking for a primitive, private campground, you will not find anything better. Although Dayla says it is primitive and that there is no water or power, there is actually access to both. Water on the side of her house she welcomes you to use, and there is an outlet on the bridge, which is a hundred yards maybe, to charge your devices. There is unlimited firewood. There is a port a let on site. The place is huge and there is a stream running by and a huge pasture beyond the stream. There is a large Hill to protect you from the wind. It is a 5 of 5. Their two dogs and cat are just as friendly as the hosts.

Always a good time camping here! Great family
Farm shire horses are huge and very friendly. Our family had a great time we were able to bring my husband and our dog who loved to run and play fetch and loose her ball in the creek. I’m sure we will be back again but for longer next time per my daughters request.

Had a wonderful stay here with my 2 kids for our first time camping. The creek is warm water rather than cold water which was awesome the kids played in it with out dog from the time we got there in afternoon and the next morning upon waking up! They had great time.

The creek was also a great sound to listen too while dozing off as sometimes camping out the night noises can be distracting the creek lulle you to sleep.

My kids also love the horses and the two dogs at the farm. The picnic table was so nice as well as the fire wood and the fire it was set up for us when we arrived which was great.

We were able to go to sunset at hanging rock and it was beautiful only about 20-30 minute drive from the farm! We will definitely be back!

You can hear some traffic from the knoll but it was not very loud. There was also a rope swing by the creek which the kids enjoyed.

Hello, Megan! So glad you and the kids (puppy too) were able to get away and spend some time playing in the creek! The creek is always a safe place for kids and puppies to play for hours! And, putting the Adirondack chair in the creek to relax by them while they play makes for a great camping experience for all! Glad you were able to spend some time with the Shire horses; I know they love the love! See you again, soon! Most Sincerely, Dayla and Denae

This campsite is awesome and so were the hostesses!
We had never been camping when my daughter requested to go for her 8th birthday. In total we hosted 20 ppl 10 kids, 10 adults. There was plenty of room and we were even able to park just up the hill from site if we wanted (certainly not for lack of room). The campfire and s’mores were the perfect way to sing happy birthday! There was indeed, plenty of wood. We used the campfire our entire stay. We had 8 tents and a screened in canopy tent for food (yeah, we might have been “glamping” just a little, HaHa). Still, I’m addition, there was an acre or so of land available for activities. Two families bought there small dogs and we bought our bunny! All was well. The best part for the kiddos were the horses and the creek! They loved every minute of it. The creek comes no further than about your ankles. Very safe and fun for the kiddos and their rain boots. The horses as advertised were very friendly. The kids walked right up and pet them. We got great pics! All-in-all the experience was amazing for 20 folks on their first camping adventure! Everyone's already asking about the next one. Thanks Dalya and Denae! We loved it and you two were truly the sweetest! ☺️

Dayla & Denae were fantastic hosts! Such a kind and courteous family! The site was exactly as pictured and described! I had my two dogs with me; my standard poodle didn’t seem to mind the horses one bit, but my overprotective mixed rescue saw them as a threat. But even with her loud & obnoxious initial reaction to them, those gentle giants didn’t flinch or react at all! I was in awe of the beauty and size of the shires, but I really fell in love with young Cash’s personality and friendly nature. As I was packing up to leave, the duo came over to say their goodbyes…I didn’t want to go! lol I definitely hope to be back very soon…except next time I plan to leave my pups with a dog sitter just so I can have a little more quality time relaxing by the creek and to admire those beautiful majestic horses! Thank you, Kohler family for sharing your beautiful land and your furry extended family! God Bless! ❤️
