The vibe at Camp Henning at Ellerbe Springs

Hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was not clear that the site is not really set up for tent camping, more suitable for RVs. The pictures make the camping area look more remote than it is; it’s pretty close to a house and restaurant (which we hear is tasty!). Saw some nice wildlife and the pond was pretty. The bath house has water but the stairs look like they are close to rotting and for some reason a fake zombie is hiding in one of the rooms.
Great time, we will be back!
Wonderful Stay. Donna and her host were more than accommodating and took care of all of our needs. As a new RV owner I had several questions leading up to my stay that Donna very quickly answered. I was met at entrance to property and escorted to my site. The owner even brought over ant killer because we had small children and there was a small mound near the fire pit. Beautiful property, peaceful, quiet and more than exceeded our expectations, hiking trails and a gorgeous stocked pond with a small waterfall/creek in the back that my boys loved. We will be back again. They are still improving the campground and making renovations but we had a great time. Currently there are 7 spots, fairly level in a wooded portion of the property. Adjacent to the campground are several historic buildings which make it a cool place to camp and explore. The campground itself is smaller and not a lot of room between sites, but because it only has limited spots I think it still offers a peaceful relaxing spot to call home for a few nights. We had a great time.
Donna was very nice and greeted us immediately. We had our choice of spots and setup for the weekend. But we had electricity issues as our surge protector kept shutting off power to the RV. The error was about no ground on their 30 amp connection. We simply moved to another spot and everything was fine
Loved the little cafe, fishing kind, small paths. Only one other camper there. Wonderful lazy weekend we needed and neat place. Wish I could add pictures as it was unique.
Our RV site was in good repair, shady, and our neighbors on each side were fine. The area around the pond was very quiet tranquil and scenic.
We will definitely return when in the area again.
I am looking forward to seeing how the owners continue to develop and improve the already good experience.
Great if you like to be with nature
I found the place fun and the site was clean and fun. the only problem i noticed is there were a couple fire ant hills on our site. they had plent of wood for a campfire and the host and other guests were very friendly. I had a great time there. If you like calm and relaxing camping , and like to be close to nature, then you will love camp henning
Great weekend spot with a sm lake
Great weekend spot with a small lake close to the interstate. Everything a young family needs. We enjoyed our four nights during a long weekend. It was quiet, relaxing and they have a restaurant! Owner is putting in several new RV spots all with full hookups (50A). Lake is catch and release and the property has 40 acres you can roam on. Small town (two miles away) has dollar general type stores and a grocery store.
Mark and Donna greeted us upon entering and directed us to our site. My family and I needed a little bit of respite and Camp Henning was a great place to go. It was very peaceful and relaxing and beautiful sunrises! They also had a beautiful Lake 4 Fishing.
