This hilltop camping area is hidden in the backwoods along the edge of wetlands, forests, and fields attracting abundant wildlife. A five minute walk along a woodland path leads to the area with space for three tents and up to ten people. Each tent site is in its own private location. When you reserve this area all three secluded tent sites are included.

Cayuta Sun Farm produces gourmet quality pork and poultry through heritage breed hogs and birds integrated into a forest farm system. We invite you to camp in our woods and be a guest on our farm. We love hosting visitors and showing how we raise healthy, delicious food.

Look for our additional listing ("Woodland Permaculture Homestead") for our other campsite that can accomodate two guests and one tent. This site is behind our farmhouse in the cool pine woods with a soft pine needle floor. This deeply shaded area is also used for camping by our students, apprentices, family and friends.

Near the farmhouse are a friendly dog and cats, roaming chickens, fresh water, a composting toilet, and the very rustic outdoor shower with a few minutes of hot water.

Within twenty miles of Cayuta Sun Farm are wineries, hiking trails, the cities of Ithaca and Watkins Glen, plus all the attractions found in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. We are 12 miles from the Grassroots Festival of Music, 14 miles from Watkins Glen Speedway, and 17 (paved) miles from Ithaca. Within just a few miles is the Finger Lakes Trail, Connecticut Hill Wildlife Area and Cayuta Lake. Walk down our dead end dirt road and you will find a footbridge overlooking the glorious Cayuta Inlet Swamp.

It is exactly as advertised - a private campsite in the woods. It is really three separate campsites and the middle one has a small fire pit. We enjoyed star gazing while sitting by the fire and watching the fire flies light up. The farm itself is super interesting. There's a lot of great hiking near by and Ithaca, Elmira and Watkins Glen are very close. It was moderately buggy, but nothing a little Off couldn't handle. It is a little bit of a walk back to the site, so try to pack as lightly as possible.

Lovely stars at night - so bright I could take a picture with my phone.

Michael’s farm is very well put together, and the secluded farm is quite secluded! The dolly helps bring things back though. Michael was very helpful and answered any questions we had.
The pigs are great!!
Toilets and shower are clean and easy to operate

We stayed for 3 nights at the secluded campground on this permaculture farm. The walk to the campsite was lovely through the woods. The campsite itself was spacious, well tended, shaded, and came with a fire pit and picnic table.
Michael was a wonderful host, showing us all the sights of the farm and always being available for a great conversation.
Being close to Ithaca and the falls was wonderful.

I would definitely recommend camping here!! The farm wasn’t hard to find (thanks to Michael’s directions) and the grounds are quite beautiful. We ended up pitching our tent in a forested area on a soft bed of pine needles. The toilet was very clean and well-maintained. There was a lot to see on the farm- Berkshire pigs, chickens, and beautiful gardens. Michael and Kelly are wonderful people and they welcomed us like friends. They are extremely knowledgable in all things related to permaculture and it was a pleasure to take the farm tour and learn from Michael about the tenets of this agricultural framework. They also have an incredibly cute and intelligent border collie who followed us around wanting to play every time we were on the farm. I loved my stay and I’m hoping that we can stay here again soon!

This site was great and the hosts were very nice and welcoming. The campsite is secluded and private, as advertised. You do not hear or see any other campers and it is well maintained. And, if needed, you also have the option of walking to the main property to use a toilet and shower. This was the blend my girlfriend and I were looking for and it delivered.

... I am eating some Cayura Sun pork chops with mashed potatoes and an herbed butter sauce. And they are amazing. My wife and I had a wonderful time here! Michael went above and beyond to meet with us and show us around the site upon arrival and was very gracious throughout our stay. Their property is beautiful, and sure to inspire anyone with an eye for ecological design. We also saw him at the Ithaca Farmers Market! The secluded campsite was very private and lovely. A perfect autumn escape. They had an outdoor kitchen where we could do our dishes and the other facilities were fantastic. Within easy driving distance to many great locations. We'll be coming back next summer!

Cayuta Sun Farm exceeded expectations. Kelly showed us the farm-- the garden, outdoor kitchen, outhouse, outdoor shower, chickens, pigs, and our campsite-- upon arrival. It was a bit of a walk from our car to the secluded campsite so I'm glad all of my belongings were packed tightly.

I really appreciated the hosts' warmth and hospitality. The location was perfect for our day trips to Watkins Glen and Ithaca. I recommend this to all looking for a relaxing outdoorsy getaway!
