Watton Airstrip is a stunning property, nestled on the banks of the Macquarie River. Featuring nine riverside campsites, along with paddock and bush sites, all 4WD accessible and two equally stunning 2WD accessible sites. You’ll share our spaces with kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas, deer, platypus and more. Enjoy some optional extras, including Tammie's home made bread, farm fresh, free range eggs, or one of our range of grazing platters, home made jams or hot chocolate kits. Or pamper yourself with a Crystal reiki session, or tarot reading. The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mt Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Lie back in your swag at night and let the star struck, velvety sky envelope you, or make a booking at the nearby Bathurst Observatory to see the stars up close. Each campsite offers its own unique features for you to enjoy and a hand crafted pit toilet is accessible to those camped along the river bank. Fish or swim in the river, ride your bikes, or set up camp and then head off on an adventure to the Goldfields at Ophir, or History Hill at Hill End via the Bridle Track. Better still, book into a pub crawl with Damo so you can lie back and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of opportunities for 4WDing and bushwalking in the local area. Fires are allowed (fire restrictions permitting). Wood can be collected from fallen wood around the property, or bring your own if you prefer. Pets are welcome for a one off fee per animal. We do ask that pets are supervised at all times and that they do not interfere with farm animals or local wildlife.

The Beach 4WD Only

Perfect spot!

This was our second stay at Watton Airstrip. We rave about Damien and Tammie's place to our friends and we will absolutely be back again soon. Communication is quick, friendly and helpful. The sites are clear and picturesque. Our 3 year old loves playing on the riverbank and riding his bike down the slopes. A perfect spot for the family to relax.

The Rapids 4WD Only

Under the stars

Beautiful tranquil setting,remote,peaceful but close to farm making it easy to plan your day or dash down to the shops. River sound at night time is the best to fall asleep to. Spot the odd deer and kangaroos giving the kids a great experience. Thank you Damien and Tammie, very welcoming ,hope to see you again soon.

The Deep Spot 4WD Only

Site 4 4WD Only

Easter weekend trip

The site we stayed on was a bit of a walk from the river area but we had privacy and a massive space to ourselves and the alpacas. The hosts are lovely and very helpful. Would recommend (especially the sites near the river)

Large 2WD/ Caravan Hillside Site

So peaceful

We spent one night and absolutely loved it. The views were incredible (particularly sunset and sun rise). Our little old dog loved looking at the alpaca, sheep, kangaroos and horse that were all close by. Tammie drop around a copious amount of fresh bread in the morning which was lovely.

The Rapids 4WD Only

These guys went out of their way to help us. Cannot recommend this place enough, it is a stunning spot on the river and the hosts were super generous in helping us out. I would NOT recommend riding a bike there unless you want a very spicy climb the next morning! Massive thumbs up and thank you Damien and Tammie.
