The campsite is accessed off the public road, and is east of the China Wall campsite. The upper level is suitable for caravans, RVs and motorhomes of all sizes, and camping trailers, tents and swags. There is a slope to go down to the lower camping area immediately adjacent to the river and it is often used by campers with camping trailers. The lower area has lots of shade trees and the upper level is mostly cleared where the land is flattest but has shade from the adjoining trees. There is a pit toilet available. The Cockatoo takes its name from the cliff face to the west which has a white mark on the rock which looks like a cockatoo sitting there. The China Wall is a sheer rock wall directly opposite on the other side of the river from the Cockatoo cliff to the bend in the river.
Pets are allowed but dogs must be leashed unless accompanied, and must be leashed if livestock or other campers are nearby. Fishing is also allowed providing licensed, but note that Eastern Cod are catch and release only, and any fish heads and innards are to be buried away from the campsite. Firewood is available free of charge. An initial supply will be provided and guests are welcome to gather their own.
The Rocky is a special place and we expect our guests to treat it respectfully, removing their rubbish and not emptying any waste water from caravans/RVs/motorhomes on site or in the river. There is a dump point in Tenterfield.
There is a landline at the Boundary Hut and at Corner Camp for emergencies, and wifi will soon be available at the Boundary Hut if someone really really has to connect with the internet for urgent matters. If the entire Cockatoo and China Wall area is wanted for a large group an exclusive booking may be made. The Boundary property is 10000 acres and has extensive private river frontage, providing a lovely scenic drive through the valley. The camping areas at Boundary Riverside, the China Wall, The Cockatoo and The Caves are all on the river but are on the western side adjacent to the public road so even if the river rises campers will not be stranded.
Boundary adjoins Washpool National Park and has easy access to Billirimba Fire Trail and Lookout and Falls.

We actually ended up staying @ "Boundary Riverside"....as we had the luxury of having the entire property to ourselves & was able to take our pick. Bron went above & beyond prior to our stay, checking landslips, weight limits of bridges & unlimited information of getting to the camp-site. There was firewood cut @ most campsites, which was greatly appreciated with the weather we had. The toilets were the best smelling & cleanest drop toilets, we have ever encountered! There was not a camp-site, that we would not recommend & we look forward to coming back & staying @ "The China Wall" next time. The area, the river & the scenery are just stunning! Thanx Guys!!
What a gem and beautiful part of Australia. Our own little oasis for our stay. Enjoyed every minute. Thank you for having us.
This is our 3rd trip staying with Bill and Bronwyn at their various sites , all sites are very well maintained, all sites are very private, the river is pristine and our fishing attempts have always been very successful, we will definitely be returning again and again
Wow! What an absolutely special place! We had high hopes going into this beautiful valley, but it exceeded our expectations. The owners are incredibly lovely and super helpful. Although they weren't on site they gave us detailed instructions and maps on how to get to the very well marked sites. The campsites were spacious and just gorgeous in their own ways. We even got visited by their two stunning curious horses. We're definitely keen to visit again remote, relaxing, very much off grid, just what we needed 😀
Thank you Bronwyn, Bill and Tim. The site was lovely and we’ll definitely be back - we had an excellent time.
Great camp spot, so quiet and peaceful. Great place to get away with the dogs and relax. Bronwyn and Bill were very accommodating and we hope to get back there soon.
Great spot. Well maintained.
Absolutely beautiful area , camping spot was nice and private , we had a run of wet weather whilst there but that didnt stop us enjoying our time , there's plenty to do , our host Bill and Bronwyn were very accommodating with us changing our times and extending our stay , will DEFINITELY be returning
