The Grass Tree Bush Camp is conveniently located just 2.5km north of Katoomba town center, so you can easily take advantage of all the upper mountain attractions in this amazing ‘World Heritage’ listed area.
The camp site is tranquil and has a large open, flat camping area in a mowed grassy clearing. The secluded clearing is boarded by a Woodland forest with stunning flora like Waratahs, Xanthorrhoea's, Orchids and Banksias. The property is home to many beautiful species of fauna like Gang-gang Cockatoo's, Eastern Rosella's and the cheeky iconic Magpie which will warble a warm welcome. The grassy clearing is frequented by large Kangaroos at dawn and dusk. Just a stones throw from the property you have easy access to world class lookouts and bush walks. If you are into climbing, canyoning, trekking, trail running, cafes, restaurants or walking along breath taking National Park trails, then you will love visiting our area.
This camp is perfect for groups/families not wanting to be camped on top of by other campers, and to have room for the kids to run around, kick a ball or to explore.
Fires are restricted to existing fire pits to minimize scars on the ground. If you prefer to bring your own fire pit we ask that you leave no trace. Fires are only permitted when there are no bans in place. Please be extra vigilant around this as our community is only just recovering after the devastating recent fires. Fires are to be modest and discrete. No fires are permitted on total fire ban days. Only use firewood that you can break by hand or cut with a hand saw from the property. Out of respect for our neighbors and other campers, please do not use a chainsaw at the camp. Note there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. We have firewood available to buy at $15 a crate. Please let us know if you would like this additional option. There is lot of small to mid range kindling onsite, however you will either need to organise with us to purchase larger logs or bring your own.
There is a rustic composting toilet, at times you may need to supply your own toilet paper. Well behaved pets are welcome and we encourage you to keep your dog on a lead if they are likely to adventure too far from your site & disturb the local wildlife.
Acknowledgement of Country:
Our property is located within the Country of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. My family recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region.
For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra (Country) takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape - landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future.
My family and I pay respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
Our hope is that by being custodians of this beautiful property, we will help preserve it for future generations as a place to connect with nature and each other. We hope you love and respect this property as much as our family does. It is a privilege to share it with like minded people who enjoy stepping out of our busy lives to connect with nature, family and friends.

Wasn't easy to find first up.Then we had picked a site unsuitable for our caravan, set up on then had to rush back to and move it .Better instructions and contact with owner would have been appreciated.
Loved camping at this campsite- nice little spot and really clean bathroom. Would recommend!
It was great, small site and not over crowded. Kylyn was amazing making sure we had plenty wood and the site was quiet!
Great camping spot. Exactly as described. Thanks for a great camping experience Kylyn.
(Site 7): lovely little campsite. We could fit our car & small camp trailer it in and had plenty of room. It was so nice & felt like we were camping in the bush. I particularly liked the drop toilet and the spiral staircase that leads up to it. There's a good amount of space between sites & it was easy to find.

Hi Cevin, thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your suggestion to ensure our site map is more accessible to campers to view prior to their stay. We have included it in our photos and with the current booking system, you choose a site number when you book to stay. Each site has the number on a tree at the site. There are now descriptions of each site when you look at each number prior to booking. If the description of the site you booked isn't detailed enough, I apologize, this is a new system and I am happy to change the descriptions if needed. It is clearly stated in our booking information that guests are to camp on the site they book. We are finding many of our guests are wanting to camp on site 3 during the winter months as it gets lots of sun. You set up on site 3 and gave me very little time to let you know that another group had booked it. I appreciated that you were able to come back and move your caravan to the site you booked, before the group arrived. My husband and I work full time and endeavor to respond to messages as quickly as possible throughout the day. Guests who inquire about changing site numbers are encouraged to do so before arriving. We can't change bookings to different sites in our calendar and need Hipcamp admin to assist with this. When we are not at full capacity it's much easier to allow this to happen and it is appreciated that we are able to check our booking calendar prior to setting up to ensure other guests aren't inconvenienced by this change. As stated in our booking description, if you set up on a site number that you haven't booked, you will be asked to move. It is our campers responsibility to ensure that you find your correct site number. It isn't ideal to be asked to move once you've set up and settled in, but these are our rules and it allows guests to book sites with confidence that when they arrive they will be able to camp on the site they've booked.
