Darrin runs a very tidy and well secluded campsite right by a healthily flowing river. The amend ties are above standard fare- including a flushing toilet. Bring a bbq gas cylinder if you want a hot shower. We were there in January 2021 and the river was was flowing and perfect for swimming in.
Darrin’s campground has turf better than my lawn!
The drive in from about Sheba Dams is unsealed. We had a low clearance AWD and were totally fine. A 2WD car should be fine in most conditions. Would recommend driving in and out during the day as there are LOAD of native animals in the area. A walk along the river banks we spotted no less than 3 wombats.
I tried fly fishing at Sheba Dam (lower dam) and as it was a busy weekend the fish were disturbed but I was assured that there was trout in there by local Trout farmer at Arc En Ciel trout farm (would recommend going there, it’s only 25 mins away).
Not too much in the way of hiking from camp as it seems to mostly be surrounded by private land. A short drive away from the start of some great trails. Jump on AllTrails and check that out.
We only saw one car on the road the entire time we were there. For how easily accessible this place is it’s very very private.
Highly recommended and we will be back.
Secluded river camp
Great spot to get away and relax. The site was elevated and level on the banks of the river with a nice fire pit area. We didn't meet the host, however the directions were very clear and easy to follow. Highly recommend if you are looking for a secluded spot, we really enjoyed our 3 days there and will no doubt be wanting to revisit again.
Darrin was really friendly and accommodating. He came to check that we had everything we needed and offered us some local knowledge.
The camp was smaller than I was expecting but was beautifully kept and we had no issues with our camping neighbours.
Overall we had an excellent week and enjoyed our stay.
Relaxing and refreshing stay
A tranquil, relaxing and well maintained space separated from the rest of the farm. The campground is easily accessible along an unsealed road about a 40 minute drive from Nundle
We were kept company by the 2 delightful resident horses and Reggie the dog. The river was wonderful to swim and cool off in during the day and the sky beautiful for stargazing at night. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Nice and quiet
Absolutely beautiful camp spot. Very well maintained, nice and flat surface, perfect ratio of sun and shade throughout the day. Overall a very well kept spot. Darrin came down and introduced himself and his fur babies, we talked for 10 minutes then he left, not intrusive at all and very friendly.
River is fun to play in with deaper spots up and down stream.
Would definitely recommend and will return.
