Barkala Farm is a self-sustaining farm located off the grid (follow directions below), supplying our own water and solar electricity. The Farm is a grazing property situated on 13,000 acres surrounded by the tranquil Pilliga Forest.

Campsites located close to the homestead, toilet and shower facilities, swimming pool, volleyball court, farm animals and cafe/pottery.

Choose from a wide variety of camping sites ranging from creekside camping to open paddock sites. We also offer private sites away from the hub.

As well as farm animals the farm hosts a thriving community of birds, well designed bush tracks where you can discover local wild life, plants, Aboriginal artifacts, great lookouts, sandstone cliffs and caves all in the midst of the Pilliga Forrest.

Barkala Farm is also home to Pilliga Pottery and the Blue Wren Bush Cafe (not open for dinner on Wednesday night), offering demonstrations and workshops, traditional European inspired fresh foods with ingredients from our organic green house and home made Gelato.

Campers can also enjoy feeding the farm animals, our salt water pool and campfires.

Nice and quiet, off the road. Nice choice of areas to camp in, dogs were fine and looks like some good areas to walk in - we were there just as a quick night stop over so didn't get to really take the area in.

Decided to stay again on the return journey after such a nice stay before. Such a fantastic, quiet, isolated location. The pizza and german meal from the cafe for dinner was delicious. Thanks again.

Stayed here during the January heat and there was a nice pool that was very accommodating. After seeing the positive reviews and activities on offer, my wife and I (30’s) were very excited to stay here but I think this site is suited more towards families with young kids. The campsite is more of a caravan park style campground with a small section for campers. Can’t fault it though! Great toilets, showers, a restaurant/cafe if you want to eat there and pottery classes available.

We stayed here after a day at the warrumbungles. The place was nice, however the shower/toilet block was not clean, there was a dead bat and lots of mouse poo around the sink.
Also the camping site is near the pottery/other buildings and didn’t really feel in the middle of forest/land like the description suggested.
There is a long dirt road to get there from the main road which had some sizeable pot holes so not suitable for every car.
That said the stars were amazing overnight

We loved camping here as a family. So relaxed with great amenities and you feel like you’re miles from anywhere.
My 5 & 7 yr olds loved the pool, trampoline, pottery classes, helicopter ride, restaurant, dogs and biking around the grounds. I felt like it was safe to let them explore around.
I loved the people we met, doing a pottery wheel class, cooling down in the pool and having moments to read my book.
We will be back for sure, tagging some friends and family along.

For the price, can't complain.
The team member who helped us on arrival was super friendly!!

It was disappointing that the terms and conditions state dogs must be kept on leash while on the grounds (which we did as a responsible dog owner) yet there were two dogs freely roaming the grounds which did not belong to the other campers on site.
This resulted in our dog fighting with one of these dogs, while the owners were nowhere to be seen.

Being so far off the road may not be everyone's cup of tea, although road had been freshly graded.
Make sure to bring levelling ramps if taking a caravan as ground uneven.
