Stephanie is so kind and welcoming, as was her tenant Martin. The campsite was super cute and had all the amenities we needed, including water and firewood. Amazing view of the sunset and stars, and plenty of places to explore. So many Steller’s Jays to watch as well. A perfect way to end our short trip to Taos area.
We were so grateful to find this site in the PJ away from the crowds. It was easy to get to from the highway and the high desert location at the base of the mountains made for excellent sunsets and views. The kitchen area was set up well and the outhouse was nice and clean. Stephanie provided drinking water as needed and a bonus was plenty of wood to burn for campfires. Stephanie met us when we arrived and gave us some great “off the beaten path” recommendations, so we had a fun time exploring places we wouldn’t have made it to otherwise. That really made the trip. You can tell she and her family will do what they can to help guests have a great experience.
Great spot ! Thanks for your recommendations and camping spot :)
I loved it! It was very peaceful. Great setup. Very nice outhouse. Great views. The host was very friendly and very informative on places to go and things to do in the area. I would highly recommend it if you wanted to get away and have some peace and quiet.
My stay on Stephanie’s land in Lama was perfect. I loved the practical arrangement of the space, the stellar views of the valley, plateau and mountains all around, the smart fireplace and chimney (safe for windy nights) and the well-crafted outhouse (BIG fan of thoughtful composting toilets here). And I appreciated the gentle presence of the neighbor, Martin, who shared extra knowledge about the property and area, in general. I’d happily return to Stephanie’s High Desert Camping site, especially to further explore the abundant hiking and other adventures around the Enchanted Circle. So much beauty to absorb in northern NM. Wouldn’t mind seeing Jupiter, the aptly-named neighbor dog again, too!

Stephanie was very helpful always replied quickly to my messages. She came down to meet me even though it was after dark when I arrived and she showed me around to n make sure I got settled in ok. Her place was great, lots of cool little touches. My only regret was not staying longer. She had great suggestions of things to do in the area. I totally loved the hot springs and Rio Grande River.
Great stay overnight. Very accommodating. House next to campsite with a tenant but they were quiet and respectful
This was a great place to stay. It was a nice location, the campsite was well setup, there were great amenities, and it was a fun place. My favorite part was the firepit. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a great camping experience with some nice amenities to make it more comfortable and accessible.
