Grand opening October1, 2021. ✨ Enjoy camping at North Cedar Moon in the pristine foothills of the Ortiz Mountains, 30 miles south of Santa Fe. This rural off-grid campsite has expansive views of the Sangre de Cristos, The Cerrillos Hills, and the Jemez mountains. North Cedar Moon is 8 miles away from the artistic and historical coal town of Madrid and mining town Cerrillos. Do you like to live with nature? So do we! But we live in the 21st century. Here is a solution. Welcome to your outdoor home—outhouse, out-kitchen, out-shower, outdoor living, but all SO IN. Our 210sq ft foot canvas bell tent Includes a super comfortable queen-sized bed, fresh cotton bed linens, towels, two headlamps, battery-powered lantern, and a mix of eclectic, modern, and antique decor. Enjoy the sun, stars, and views, connect with nature, immerse yourself in rural off-grid living and unwind in the Ortiz mountains. The tent is set up for a couple in the queen-sized bed. We are happy to accommodate up to 2 extra guests inside the tent. Additional guests are responsible for their own sleeping bag, pad, and pillow. You will see this as an option while finalizing the booking. The campsite offers an outdoor kitchen where we provide you a shade structure with cooking utensils (pots, cast iron pan, spatula, tongs), cutlery, 9 gallons of filtered water, propane bbq, propane camp stove, grill rack over a campfire, plates, dinner linens, glassware, foil, paper towel, french press, bowls, and a platter. There is a table under the kitchen roof to enjoy your meals. You have this quadrant of the property all to yourself. We are doing several small permaculture projects sprinkled throughout the land. There is a chance you could run into us building or planting something on the far side of the 15-acre property, but we like to give our guests privacy, peace, and quiet (how we would want to be treated ☺️). The unpaved road to the campsite is 3 miles and filled with stones, hence our street name, Stoney Road. We highly recommend a vehicle with clearance as there are some rocks on the road that are "oil pan busters." There are no street lights on the dirt road; we recommend arriving at the site during the day. After rainfall and during the monsoon season (May-September), the road can be very muddy. We don’t want you getting stuck. Let’s be honest here: high clearance and or 4x4 on your vehicle is recommended. There is a composting outhouse as your bathroom during your stay. We have an open outdoor shower. Please be mindful and use the soap we provide. The greywater from your bathing feeds the plants. There are three camp shower bags, each hold 5 gallons of water. They heat up during the day and give some heat to the water. We recommend you shower before night falls as the temperatures shift dramatically from day tonight. We remind you that this is a rural off-grid campsite: the closest restaurant is in Madrid, 8 miles away. You are responsible for your safety, food, ice, and relaxation. We have items for sale in a cool, old, funky Kelvinator fridge (acts as a vending machine) if you forgot things like batteries, an extra pair of socks, a beanie, sunscreen, eye drops, canned goods, tums, ibuprofen, flashlight, etc. You will receive the key code upon your booking to access items for sale. Come enjoy the impeccable views, INSANELY spectacular stars, and a genuinely unique, curated, off-grid living experience. Message us if you have any questions, concerns, or inquiries!✨

This place was pure magic. The scenic drive on hwy 14 is like time traveling. We pulled onto the dirt road and opened the window to clean air and crunchy rocks. Definitely a time to turn on some gravelly-voiced country music.

When we arrived, everything was laid out exactly as Patience described. My dog got to feel young again exploring the mountain, while we got to cook up some fresh veggies and brats in the rad outdoor kitchen later. We saw shooting stars, got wild and weird and wonderful around a fire pit, slept like babies on the comfy beds ( amazing!), and came home with sunburns and happy hearts. Every detail put into this place was done with love.

Will come back. 10/10.

North Cedar Moon was so amazing!! We loved staying here. The bell tent was very cool and comfortable. We loved how much thought and taste has been put into the site. The outhouse is beautiful, clean and ridiculously amazing for an outhouse, not at all what we expected. The outdoor kitchen space is awesome and the landscaping is beautiful. The views and STARS knocked our socks off!! We didnt find the drive in to be bad in a toyota tacoma. Cant wait to stay again!! Also, add the bread option, you wont regret it.

Great stay, beautiful camp! The area is stunning, the tent looks just like it does on the listing. Very friendly and inviting. Would definitely recommend Patience’s place to a friend! Our 8 year old daughter had an amazing time searching for arrowheads and megladon teeth and fossils along the dry creek beds and climbing the foothills.

Our stay at cedar moon was very last minute on our road trip from NY to California but the hosts were really accommodating. Our Subaru Forester made it up the road just fine. It was nice to finally sleep in a comfortable bed and use the kitchen which had everything we needed. There was coffee and tea which was nice and unexpected. Cell service wasn’t a problem at the campsite which we were a little worried about.

Their old fashioned convenient store fridge had eye drops (and a bunch of other necessities) which were extremely helpful because we were a little fried from driving.

The hosts Patience and Joachim met us and gave us a tour around the property. They are doing so many inspiring projects. We will definitely be back on our route back home to New York. Would highly recommend for those wanting to be off grid and still be comfortable. Thanks so much Joachim and Patience! See you soon!

First of all, I loved the adventure of getting to the campsite, the long rocky road gave us a sense of exploration and seclusion.

The camp has such beautiful views and it was so peaceful being in nature. The bed was super comfortable and the tent was nice and cozy.
