4wD not completely necessary, but it is encouraged, many priuses have been here and been fine! Nestled in Nevada's Crescent Valley lies an ecological gem called Azura. 40 acres of land left mostly undisturbed but open for exploration. Come take the views of the jasper colored foothills and mountains; stay in The Truett (Old English for dry lakebed...) and have for yourself a view of the cosmos in her full glory absent the blemish of light pollution, as we have among the lowest in North America. Come be undisturbed in the soothing light of the milky way and let every star lull you to sleep. We love pets of all kinds and want to encourage you to let them run free as nature intended! We want to make sure your animal companions have as much fun in nature as you! Above all else Azura is a sanctuary; humanity and our civilizations first drew breath in the desert, come tap into that legacy! I, Rowan, will take you on a journey through the cosmos if you like, I'm very knowledgeable of the heavens and study the heavenly bodies daily; or I can leave you to the peace of the desert; either way, I stand ready to help you in whatever you might need. I also endeavor to make the desert bloom, this is my personal mission and your stay contributes to the establishing and maintaining of an oasis ecosystem unlike anything seen in North America. So come stay under the stars a night or two, swim in the local river, or use us as a spring board to the many hotsprings in northern Nevada. We have partnered with our local grocer (Cortez General Store) to offer delivery service to the front gate until 9pm, order in advanced and pay online and have your good ready before your arrival! Whatever you do, either passing by on your way east or west, viewing the stars or exploring the desert and xeric landscapes, come enjoy it at The Oasis of Azura! We stayed on our way to Wyoming and had a magical night. Our kids thought it was one of the coolest campsites - so quiet at night, so many stars, beautiful sunrise. Rowan wasn’t able to meet us but directions were clear and kinda fun to follow. I’d stay here again on the next road trip for sure!

This place was beautiful! As a lot of other people said, the stars were incredible! It took us a bit of time to find, so I should have asked for better directions. But, other than that, great spot! Beautiful desert and colors!

Rowan was great! Just too bad we did not make it there until MIDNIGHT due to us having to leave later from Oakland and an 11 hour drive. So we could not find the location at all in the nightime. This just make sure to get there before it is dark…or when the host is there.

If you want a very isolated camp where you just have the desert and stars to yourself, this is the camp for you. Had a good, serene time staying here.

The views here are incredible. There are two things to point out, however. The first is the proximity (maybe a mile away) to 306. There was quite a bit of traffic late into the evening and the noise really carried. Secondly, this is a dry alkali bed and the white powder gets on your gear and does not brush off! This would be an ideal spot for amateur astronomy if it were not for that fine powder that would get into your equipment. Other than that, I highly recommend The Azuran Oasis.

Amazing place to stay in NV. Wide open spaces, no amenities and totally worth the spectacular skies.

If you’re looking for rustic, remote and beautiful say no more. This spot is amazing. Perhaps a bit difficult to find if you don’t follow directions well (like us). High quality stargazing with perfect level ground for tents and vehicles.
