Greetings!Suenos del Mar is a small tropical farmstead. We plant trees and tend bees. In 2017 hurricane Maria raged through the island and damaged much of the property. We are still recovering but the trees are coming back and we continue to replant. We welcome you to pick some fruit in season. There are many exotic fruit trees, such as pomegranates, guava, mango, guama, nespero, lime, starfruit, and more, Over the years many volunteers have helped to create a welcoming environment. There is a hand-built stone bathroom, a grape arbor and large table where the socializing goes on. Sometimes we offer yoga and meditation and ceremonies. Recently a fire dancer performed for a full moon gathering held there. It is a special place and we welcome you to experience the out-of-doors in a safe and beautiful environment.Enjoy your stay with us!

The best camping in Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument, VI guide

Overview

About

This monument has a big secret—it's almost all underwater. In fact, it covers most of the seafloor around St. John. This gorgeous area was created to protect the spectacular coral reefs. For visitors, it offers some of the most exciting snorkeling in St. John.

The magic is in the mangroves that line the shores of Hurricane Hole. Swim through the maze of submerged roots, past coral and schools of fish. The water is shallow, calm and great for kids. Out further, keep an eye out for the huge submerged chain that anchors boats during storms. (That's also where the name "Hurricane Hole" comes from.) Don't feel like getting wet? You can also kayak through the mangroves. You'll find plenty of rental spots around Coral Harbor.

If you really want to get into the BVI spirit, charter a boat. There's a reason the Coral Reef National Monument is called a boater's paradise. Sunbathe, swim off the boat, and take in the stunning island views. Near the shallows, you can see straight down to the reef through the sparkling water. While you're at it, pop around to the northern coast. Water Bay and Threadneedle Point offer killer snorkeling, without the crowds.

With the relaxed island vibe and postcard-perfect scenery, you'll never want to leave.
