The property is located on Maui island in the Kula district on the drier side of Haleakala. In days before western contact the area was heavily forested with native plants and trees and rainfall was abundant. The native Hawaiian grew bananas, taro and sweet potato. After Western contact businessmen mostly from the United States developed huge tracts of land for ranching and farming which cleared the native forests and destroyed the eco system from the mountain to the sea. Many of the Hawaiian people moved away nearer to the towns and immigrant Chinese laborers from the ranches and plantations moved in. The Chinese brought in the Wattle tree to plant for firewood as these trees grew very fast. These are the majority of the trees that you see today. As part of the Chinese immigration, the founder of modern China, Sun Yat Sen lived here for a time and planned his revolution to overthrow the last Chinese Dynasty. There is a park dedicated to him nearby.We have picnic tables a propane grill, a fire pit and a covered gazebo that is shared with 3 cabins This site is located at the 2800 ft altitude and the temperature at night can range from mid 50 to mid 60 degrees F. If you are planning to go to Haleakala, we are about 45 -60 minutes to the summit. We are also on the south side approach to Hana. There is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch about 10 minutes away in Keokea town called Grandma's Coffee house.

Alika’s land was perfect. The cabin was adorable and comfortable, and we really appreciated the hot shower and the clean flush toilets. The place was quiet, even with multiple other campers on site one of the nights we were there. Alika even put a cot in the cabin for our youngest, and we all had plenty of space. The solar lighting worked perfectly and the place was clearly marked with good location instructions for us to follow. We messaged the host with a question and they got back to us right away. And the stars! OMG. We used this as a base for hiking in the national Park and it exceeded all expectations. Would stay again and would recommend to friends!

I had a wonderful peaceful experience. I received very thorough clear directions to the location prior to my arrival. My cabin was the perfect and cozy setup for my three night stay. I had everything I needed for a memorable stay on Alika’s land. If you love stargazing, this is thr place to see them all. If i return to Maui, I will most certainly book another stay on Alika’s Land.

Sun Farm is a gem, away from the crowds, cozy yurt, nice kitchen, hot shower, clean, exactly what we needed. We knew about the hens and it was quite an orchestra overnight but we had earplugs and it was fine. There were mosquitoes but none inside our yurt. It was a great middle point between sunrise and sunset. We would definitely come back. Thank you for sharing this piece of Paradise with us!

It was just the place for me and my 2 teens. We enjoyed the outdoor feeling while still being close to the city for shopping groceries within a 10 min drive. Ear plugs are a must if you are not used to roosters and the wind. After the first night we got used to the sounds. The outdoor showers were nice. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Very cool farm with fresh produce, goats, and chickens. Volunteers were kind and knowledgeable, and it was wonderful being amongst all the trees. Other campers were respectful as well, and there's a farmer's market nearby on Tuesdays! Will happily return.

The Farm had everything to enjoy Hawaii. It is definitely camping. I would not call this glamping as you do have crows throughout the night lol still enjoyable still fun. Def bring earplugs. Use the prettier shower as the water def stayed warmer way longer. I didn’t get to interact as much as I thought I would with other visitors. Also I traveled alone and felt very safe and I think that’s more than you can ask for.

Beautiful farm, the yurts are situated right there among the coconut and banana trees. Inside the yurt and the common areas are nice and clean and everything is easy to find. Would 100% recommend the Sun Farm Tour, Elisa was very knowledgeable about all the plants around the farm, I was able to sample a lot of different fruits straight off the tree, and the vegan banana ice cream and fruit breakfast was phenomenal. Ask to try the noni juice, it's not good but it's worth trying once :)

I really enjoyed the 'Big Island' canvas tent experience at Sun Farms. The vibe was so chill and everyone kept to themselves but still had a community feeling if you needed something. Traveling as a solo woman, I felt perfectly safe and found it easy to leave things in my tent as needed while I explored during the day. The tent bed was pretty comfortable and found the bedding perfect for my needs with a sheet and light blanket. A fan was provided but I found the natural wind to be enough for comfortable sleeping. I will say there are plenty of roosters crowing in the wee hours from a property next door. I have chickens at my own house so wasn't bothered by this, but could see where others who aren't used to that might need ear plugs. The showers were lovely with hot water and the 2 stall bathrooms were clean and never crowded. I found this place to be healing and nurturing and only wish I had done a tour to learn more about the produce, plants, and trees there. Lovely stay and appreciate how easy it was to book, self check-in and self check-out. I would stay again.

I loved stay in the Molokai tent. The bed was very comfortable. Staff, volunteers, and fellow campers were friendly. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe. The kit hen area is well-stocked, and it was great to have fridge space. My daughter just moved into her apartment at UH, and this was the most convenient Hipcamp to Honolulu and campus. I definitely hope to stay again! And, I really loved the friendly kitties 😀

We loved our stay at the cabins. Everything was clearly thought out and functional. We were grateful for them providing towels, beach towels, hand-soap, propane canisters, and extra blankets. The stars each night were incredible from the property and the picnic tables underneath the pavilion were a perfect place to have dinner. Having drinking water on site was a HUGE blessing! Things were clean and tidy and we would recommend this site to all.
