Chiggers heaven!
I took the Peninsula site because suddenly the main sites by the lake were 'not available' for the first night of my two night stay.
That first night it looked like only one campsite of the five was occupied.
While the Peninsula site was pretty, the main campsites do not have the long grass where chiggers live.
After I left the chigger bites were awful!!

My husband and I stayed at the Private lake peninsula, and it was beautiful. We loved being greeted by the bison and cows. The campsite we stayed at had the perfect view of their horses. The only complaint about our site is the rocks when staking our tent down was a struggle. Not to mention we threw half of them away when we packed up due to damaging them on the rocks.

When we first came in and checked into the store the teenager working couldn't answer most of our questions we had. We also encountered the same thing later with a different teenager.

Also, the other thing that kind of gave us mixed feelings is that this place almost seemed like a resort. They had a pool, kayak rentals, day rentals, and a lodge. I don't really feel this comes across in their description on hipcamp. I would still recommend someone staying here, but I was thrown off when I got the resort feel. Maybe just a new updated description on hipcamp would be great for future campers.

Lastly, I don't know if this was just bad luck, but
we stayed three nights and every night dogs barked in all hours of the night. I don't know if that will always be the case, but just a heads up if you tent camp.

Overall I would give my experience at Sprink Lake a 4/5. The area and activities that are available were amazing, but the customer service at the Country Store was a bit disappointing which is why I docked one point. I will definitely be coming back in the future though.

Loved our camping spot! Secluded, so it was much less noisy than the other side of the lake and a great view of the stars at night! Like other reviews have said in the past, if it's been rainy, you'll want a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle, the clay can get very wet and difficult to drive on. We ended up just parking at the top of the peninsula and walking down to our tent spot.
The bathrooms were awesome & very clean. We wish it had been warmer, because we never got a chance to swim. But the hiking trails are great!

Good place! Nice hike and the place was private across from all the other camping. I got to kayak as well!

The site was absolutely perfect for us/exactly what we were hoping for! It seemed as if we arrived towards the end of their busier season, so there was minimal activity on the ranch (that we noticed).

We didn’t use the directions provided, as once you get onto 185 from downtown Potosi, the signage was ample direction (not to mention it was only a total of 3 turns from town).

We met one of the owners of the property, although we didn’t catch his name. He was kind and polite! The young person working the store/check-in desk was equally kind and polite upon our arrival on Saturday night.

We imagine that during the summer, the ranch is popping, but as I mentioned earlier, we arrived 10/31/2020, so it was rather empty (which we were totally cool with).

If you’re traveling there during wetter seasons, I would recommend AWD at a minimum as the peninsula is mostly red clay. It was pretty dry during our stay and I had zero issues in and out in my Pathfinder with only RWD, but I definitely sunk a bit into the clay.

Overall - Spring Lake Ranch was great! 10/10 would recommend

Privacy @ peninsula site - perfect 👌🏼

Bonus - horses, goats, cows AND at least one bison
