This property was the original homestead in the 1880s, previously 200 acres. For generations, the family passed down the land through the family raising cattle, corn, and eventually soybeans. The land was eventually sold from the family in the 1990s when it back a goat dairy. We now raise a primitive breed of sheep for dairy, wool, and meat, as well as partner with draft horses to care for the land. On thé spring, you maybe lucky enough to see our horses cutting hay, raking piles, or even loading hay bales. Learn more about this land: Welcome to our family farm! Our 20 acres of prairie is located 1 hour south of the Twin Cities, 20 minutes east of the Faribault exit, or 20 minutes west of Zumbrota.  In our farmyard we have 40+ free range laying chickens and ducks, plus one goose, 2 friendly farm kittens, 11 adult sheep, and 2 milking cows. If you're lucky, you'll see a sky full of stars, and occasionally the milky way at night!  Through the woods, you will find two short hiking trails that take you through the exterior of the property.  One along the east side, and one on the west, that if you're feeling brave, will take you through out sheep pasture. We are a working farm, feel free to join us during farm chores to learn about our different animals and how we care for them.  We choose to do our farm work as often as possible with animal partners.  Some days you will see our working draft horses in the field cutting, raking, or gathering hay.   Each camp site includes a picnic table and fire pit. You can pull up to the campsite to unload, and parking is a small walk away in the driveway.  Each campsite includes views over the hay field and through neighboring fields offering the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets.  We are a 5 minute drive away from Kenyon if you need any supplies for your camping trip.  There is a local grocer, hardware store, and gas station.  A little farther away you will find Faribault, Northfield, or Zumbrota.   Things to do nearby: - River Bend Nature Center in Faribault - Cannon River Wilderness Area between Faribault and Northfield - Historic Faribault Woolen Mill store and tours - Faribault Historical Society - Alexander Faribault House tours - Many local restaurants, distilleries and breweries - Shopping at numerous antique, arts and boutique shops - Visit Carleton and St. Olaf Colleges in Northfield - Take a walk along the Cannon River - Covered Bridge Park in Zumbrota - Don’t miss the Nerstrand Big Woods State Park!
