we loved everything about black rabbit farms and secret forest glen! just stunning. perfect, beyond perfect. it felt safe and freeing to be on the property. we saw tons of birds of prey, rabbits, a porcupine, frogs and heard conversations between what we thought were coyotes. not buggy with mosquitoes or black flies but there are ticks so play it safe.
some insider intel to note:
secret forest glen is completely private. the other sites not so much. there is NOT a ground fire pit at this site.... only a chimenea (with grill). which was kind of a bummer for someone like me who is extremely competent in the wilderness and loves building big fires without restriction. the chimenea has size and shape restrictions that started to annoy me but all in all was totally fine. we cooked all of our food on it and the fires we built were very beautiful in the chimenea. just an odd accessories for the environment but i understand the need to protect the property from people who may not be experienced with open fires. these two details matter to me so i'm sharing for the next group.
lauren is lovely and communicative. there are really amazing dogs on the property– we met Aries and a sweet pitbull mix who's name I forgot. lastly, granville gorge is epic! definitely worth the 2 minute drive down the street. looking forward to visiting again. thank you so much Lauren! x

Great, safe place. Been three times. Definitely worth it. Stars are a plus
We loved our time at Secret Forest Glen! It’s a very secluded site and the new fire pit is so amazing. Lauren is a very warm host and I can’t wait to stay at Black Rabbit again!
We had a great time at Secret Forest Glen. The site had everything we needed and was very good size. No problem maneuvering our small trailer into the right spot.
Our weekend camping on Lauren’s farm was great . The site was very clean when we arrived and fire wood we ordered already there. The platform for the tent seemed like it could definitely fit two 3/4 person tents. There’s great hiking in the area and the gorge nearby a lovely spot to cool off.
I was a little concerned about the drive up after reading other reviews, but my Subaru Impreza made it just fine, though I’m not sure I’d want to do it in a vehicle that doesn’t have AWD or higher clearance. The first site, “vistas and vines,” would be easier to get to for most cars. Note that the toilet is a composting/blue bag one rather than an outhouse/pit situation, so if peeing in the woods is a dealbreaker this isn’t the place for you.
We had a great stay!! Our Subaru Crosstrek had a fine time getting up the hill. The gorge nearby was beautiful for a hot day.

Secret forest glen was nice. Here's some warnings, if you want to take your car to your camp site it is quite a feat. It's in my opinion to much of a hike up especially with all your gear so you will need a car. Our car got scratched in a few spots because it is a very tight squeeze. The area is fine but I felt it was missing that extra something that would of made it great. It's not shaded! So being a canopy tent. It's very buggy. The view is nothing to write home about. They provide you with a platform which is great, a picnic table and bench, a pot of water and a Jenga set. The potty is not very private and in a buggy area.
I'm sorry I couldn't say much more about it. It's def fine for camping especially if you like no frills. It's private and in a great area with lots to do in all directions.

We had a great time platform camping at Secret Forest Glen. The campsite was very well maintained, water, picnic table, fire ring, and outdoor bathroom made the trip super easy and enjoyable.
My group of 8 had a lovely time at the Secret Forest Glen. It was a great site...tucked away; room for tents; pretty level, with a couple of short, little wooded paths. The fire pit was super handy & the grate that came on top of it was INCREDIBLY shiny & clean. We were so impressed! The picnic table & benches (with added backs!) was surprisingly comfy. There are birds aplenty in the surrounding environs & they were so delightfully vocal (a few even sang night songs)! The beers that are brewed on-site are tasty & conveniently delivered right to you — a brilliant service. We especially loved the cherry & elderflower ales. We also took an easy & very short drive to the Granville Gorge, where we frolicked amongst the stones & took a dip. Highly recommend.
Some things to be aware of:
•The host isn’t kidding about the drive up to the site! It’s bumpy & steep & fairly narrow (we hilariously played banjo chase music while one of our party did trips up & down to transport our gear). But I don’t think I would have felt comfortable trying to drive it with just a regular sedan.
•There are some hornets (wasps?) who seem to live in a wooden box by the picnic table. We did not use said box & just acknowledged that it belonged to them. They did fly up into the top of our canopy & buzz around most days but we remained largely unbothered.
•We spotted quite a few ticks but they were dog ticks not deer ticks — so no real worry.
•The toilet (for solids only) is very close to the tent platform. None of us used it. We all traipsed down one of the aforementioned wooded paths to pee. There also may have been a grocery store trip for a few members of our party during which restrooms were gratefully used. None of us are used to roughing it sans outhouse...& this will probably prevent us from visiting again, despite how pleasant as everything else was. But this fact is clearly mentioned in the listing — just be aware of your own limitations & need for creature comfort.
Thank you for a fun trip! Your hospitality was much appreciated.
