Not what i expected
We drove through a field where there had been some sort of motorcycle festival to get to site 4. You will be disappointed if you’re looking for Walden Pond.
There was also some litter on and around the site. Mostly the white bags that carried firewood.
On the plus side, the location is great and there was nobody else there. I didn’t meet the host but he was very nice in the messages.
definitely secluded which was we were looking for!!! the grounds are great for exploring - it was lovely seeing all the mushrooms and moss growing. The campsite was a bit... messy, it looked like a group partied hard prior to us. So we did what any person should! and we cleaned up to keep the grounds clean :)) I am very intrigued of the land/area, so I see myself coming back in the future!
Camping on Apple Mountain was excellent. Feels very remote and we didn't see a single other person all weekend. Exploring was fun and there was a lot of diverse land to see.
Will be coming back for sure, thanks!
Get away from it all
Absolutely wonderful weekend away, highly recommend if you are looking for a place to be away from everyone. Worth it for access to the swimming hole! Ken was helpful and had us prepared, even brought a port-a-john to set up nearby. Our dog loved the freedom to run…and we all loved the swimming hole.
Rustic, adventurous, primitive,
Plenty of space to explore and enjoy! We brought our mountain bikes and had so much fun. We saw turkey, deer, and a great blue heron. A gorgeous swimming hole was a short hike away. We definitely plan to come back again ASAP especially because the hosts were really awesome and accommodating!
We were fortunate to be the first Hipcampers to stay at Apple Mountain. Kenneth was the most gracious of hosts and did everything in his power to make our time there enjoyable. Important to note that this site also hosts a large motorcycle rally and remnants of that are visible, but in no way obtrusive. Plenty of space to get lost in nature. The walk to the swimming hole wasn’t the easiest, but Kenneth was still working on that to make it more accessible. We and our dogs lived our best lives during our stay and will definitely keep this on our list of places to stay again.
