We had the hammock site- was so spacious and beautiful. Perfect spot if going into Acadia NP. We did get the $20 bundle of wood and It rained when we were there BUT! The host was super responsive and gave us dry wood no problem. Would def recommend!
Didn’t use the outdoor shower or go for the wolf walk so cannot comment on that.
Close to acadia but depressing
This campsite was private enough and close to Acadia. For those who care— we made the incorrect assumption that this was a wildlife rehabilitation center or some kind of service organization, when in reality it was like a private zoo with big wild animals (like a big bear!) in chainlink enclosures that seemed too small and made us sad. Just want to be real that it felt generally sad to be there and I wouldn’t camp there again. Heather was cool and gave clear instructions about being on her land
Originally I didn’t think not being able to find a campsite in bar harbor would be the best thing to happen on our trip to Acadia. After a quick search and panicked phone call (no place to sleep) I found this spot and had it booked and confirmed in 20 min. The site was perfect, private, clean porta potty, running water, fire pit, and trees for hammock hanging. The most interesting part is this place is a wildlife preserve! The goats and the big dogs are there to greet you in the morning, the chickens roam around and the porcupines are lounging lazily most of the day. We were lucky enough to be hanging around when a wolf experience tour came through. This was very close to Acadia, and we ended up being waaaaaay happier staying here than an overbooked campground slightly closer to the park,
Must say- this is the place to stay if you’re respectful and looking for a chill experience. You’re camping privately, but you also have the responsibility of being near someone’s home as well as wild animals. They aren’t roaming the grounds by any means, but if you can’t follow the rules and be reverent of wildlife you should find somewhere else to stay.
