25 minutes to Portland, 25 minutes to Lake Sebago, 27 minutes to ocean beaches, 10 minutes from local swimming hole, and 3 minutes to Gorham village and USM you'll find this private, colorful and comfy retreat at the end of Lovers Lane, where the wildflowers bloom each year! There's room for frisbee and to enjoy the peacefulness of our yard. It's pretty quiet here in the oak forest, but we're close to so many great places - Portland, ocean, rivers, trails, and mountains. Gorham has become a mountain biking destination and we've got some great trails outside your door! We welcome all people here and strive to hold an inclusive and safe environment. The yurt is 300’ from the parking area and on the edge of a clearing where you can have a fire or play frisbee. June-September, wildflowers abound! We have neighbors, but it’s peaceful, private, and we have dark skies. A trail network begins at our door and Portland is only 30 minutes away. The ocean is 20 minutes away, and the White Mountains are 45 minutes away. This 20’ yurt first lived on Cow Island, where Rippleffect campers used to stay. It's a basic set up: Bed, table and chairs, rocker and comfortable chair, "kitchenette". The door locks and has a key. This is NOT an ultra-fancy glamping yurt, but a comfortable, clean, spacious, lovely, private, and convenient place to stay with all the basic amenities you'll need. Sorry, no cooking (but feel free to cook over the fire). We do have a cooler with ice to keep any food you bring cold, as well as hot coffee and tea (with cream, sugar, and honey) so that you can start your mornings slowly. You'll also find paper plates, napkins, utensils, knives, a cutting board, bottle/wine opener, and salt and pepper. The bed is a queen-sized natural, latex mattress that is medium firmness. We provide nice, cotton sheets, blankets, and down pillows for a comfy sleep. Wood for a fire is provided and extra camp wood is available for purchase: $4/crate We provide a 3 gal. jug with potable water in the yurt. Please bring water bottles to fill. The composting toilet (“The Hopper”) is in a separate building, about 100’ from the yurt. We offer a 2 gallon solar shower bag for our private, outdoor shower (and towels) for getting refreshed. We also provide biodegradable shampoo/conditioner and soap. We can't guarantee that the sun will heat the bag to your liking. You're welcome to add some hot water from the kettle to warm it up a bit. A yurt is a glorified tent. For hotter days, there’s a big fan to help circulate air (there are two screened windows and the screen door. We have a new, beautiful wood stove that keeps the place toasty. If it's wet outside...you'll stay dry : )
