We had a lovely time on Nichelle's property. At first I was not happy that our site was so close to the road and sometimes noisier than I prefer, but as my co-campers noted, our site was very private and we felt safe and comfortable. Also, we had shade and sun so we were able to enjoy the mornings and evening without getting too hot. The porta-toilet was very clean, well stocked (dog waste bags too!) and well-maintained. Also, being able to easily walk to Rosario Beach was a huge plus, and it was an easy drive to lots of areas in Deception Pass Park. Nichelle was a responsive host and very gracious, thanks for sharing your property!

I absolutely loved camping on Nichelle’s land! It is perfectly located so close to Deception Pass and a quick drive to Oak Harbor for food and shops! We were able to have the best of both worlds, but especially loved the pocket of peace and quiet at Nichelle’s! We car camped on one of the smaller sites, and had the perfect amount of space to set up a hang out and lounge spot by the fire pit. Nichelle was so helpful, send messages about fun things happening in the area, and gave us a tour of the rest of her property and shared her dreams about what is to come! I look forward to visiting here again and again to see it become her dream oasis that she wants to share with others! All of the sites are on the side of a ridge on the property, a winding gravel logging road takes you to the top, and the sites are spaced out along the curves of the road!

Wonderful views, location, and host
We stayed on the upper section of Nichelle’s property, and had no trouble traversing up there with an 1800# teardrop trailer and an all wheel drive sedan. (There are some hairpin turns, but the gravel is well maintained.) We clearly communicated our needs for a flat, sunny spot, and Nichelle was able to accommodate us. The spots aren’t super clearly marked, so there was a bit of confusion at first, but both Nichelle and her son were helpful and flexible to get us and the other group camping near us set up. The views were beautiful and we were close to Rosario beach for hiking and boating. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the area and the camping spot, and Nichelle was a wonderful host. She has plans to continue to improve the experience for campers as she develops the property for her own use, and to share it.

It’s all about the location
There was a lot to love about camping here but also some things to know about your expectations. First of Nichelle is a wonderful host, very helpful and communicative. When we got to our campsite it was listed as semi-private , it’s not at all-we would have been sandwiched it between two other sites with nothing in between except our cars, had the other site showed up. The area that these 3 sites were in really should have been two spots. When we arrived and we were shown our spot there was nothing to it but a rocky parking area. Nichelle and her son were very quick and helpful to bring us a new picnic table and offered to build a fire pit wherever we wanted. There are other spots further up and into her property that were more private and had shade. The top had great views but the trade off was being closer to Rosario beach, which the entrance was just across the street. The best part is all about location, it is just across the street from Rosario beach and just a little ways north of Bowman Bay. You could walk it if you weren’t bringing anything really with you to the beach. Overall, I would recommend considering camping here if you understand that Nichelle is actively working to make this into a great place but right now it’s still a work in progress. Personally I think the price is a little high for the actual campsite, at this point, but the trade off is the location that you get.

Such an amazing spot. Great views up top! Host was very accommodating. Camp spots are a bit smaller and uneven, but hanging out with all the birds on the property was magical!
