Enjoying 8 acres of the simpler life with Renee and our children, 15 minutes north of Harrisonburg, Virginia. We love animals, planting gardens, preserving quality food, and hiking and camping in both of the world-famous national parks here. We are 4th year hosts, and immensely gratified to share all we can from this amazing Shenandoah Valley. For many adventure seekers, we have been a gateway to nearby attractions, while many of our guests come here specifically to enjoy a humble get-away in the woods with electricity, great Wi-Fi and a hot shower. There are several petting zoos near us, in case you want a little close-up exposure to some cute farm animals. We are located 45 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. Nathan is an avid hiker and familiar with many fun outdoor attractions in the area. Please reach out to us, should you need any help planning your trip. Some great hikes: Trayfoot Mountain to Blackrock Summit from Port Republic Rd Elliot Knob and High Knob fire towers Fridley's gap swimming hole & overlook. Meems Covered Bridge in Mt. Jackson Wildflower Trail (see a long lost, 500-pound millstone) Blue Ridge Tunnel Hone Quarry falls Reddish Knob Emerald Pond Yellow Rock Cliff and Storybook Trail (Great overlooks!!) Please ask about scheduled group hikes as well, we would love to help you have a good time. Other fun things: Frontier Cultural Museum Back Home on the Farm Melrose Caverns Ruby's Arcade (awesome wood fired pizza, 150 year old Duck Pin game)

Remote, peaceful and serene
This property is remote and peaceful and serene. We had no issues finding the property or campsite. And only a few minutes off 81 in the Shenandoah valley. We are a 30' toy hauler ( aka, travel trailer). We didn't need to disconnect the truck either. Big win! The site is plenty big enough and easy enough to get into. We were the only guests for 4th of July weekend and our little pup enjoyed walking and sniffing all over. We got some fresh black berries and a tour of the property. The owner was also making some electrical improvements too. It Was a very nice overnight get away. The sunset, fire 🔥 pit and amenities were fantastic. There is a shower/toilet house, and 30amp. Our site wasn't as level as the one next to us. I don't usually camp so I don't have enough of the proper blocks to get level, but the half cinder blocks worked semi ok enough for 1 of us to get a very nice night's rest. 😀 overall, a lovely one night's stay!!! not sure we would stay again multiple days in a row as the dead animal smell was overwhelming at times. We did just use a heavy duty fan and redirected the stink the other direction. I can only guess there is a 🐔 farm near and or dead animal. The smell comes and goes with the wind, but, it is strong!

Big Meadow
Nathan’s land is awesome for a quick getaway, and he makes it easy to stop in on a roadtrip for a good night’s rest. I felt it was a really great deal!

HIPCAMP failed to respond to several requests for the actual camp site street address and phone number when we booked the site. They finally sent e-mails stating we would get the requested information the day before arriving on site.. Problem was we didn't have e-mail until after we left the site. We ended up in Jasons personal home driveway and couldn't turn around and had to back halfway down the street and turn around in a neighbor's pasture. When we finally found the site there was a power problem in 104% heat. Jason and I were able to track down the problem and Jason replaced a breaker which solved the problem. He also brought down a generator in case we had to resort to that as a solution. The biggest problem was Hip Camp not supplying us the street address and working phone number when we booked the site. Hip Camp didn't tell us up front how much they were going to charge to book the site.

I really enjoyed tent camping on Nathan's land. The views of a distant mountain were great and the sites were all very spacious.

Enjoyable Stay
We had a great stay at our site. The hookups were great and Nathan was great. He brought us eggs and firewood and even told us where we could pick some berries. There were a few other campers but no issues or noises. Great stay, would stay again!
