My husband and I bought our farm at auction n 1977. The auction company put it in 3 tracts and my husband was able to bid off all three plots. Nerves of steel!!! things were very, very rural back then. Mainly tobacco chewing old men attended the auctiion. They told my husband he payed "way too much". You know "them yankee hippies". Our neighbors are actually great, and we live in a slice of[to us] paradise . We milked registered jersey cows for 20+ years, until the price of milk fell and stayed low. Our kids grew up showing sheep, cows and horses. Our son now runs a 500 acre farm to table operation a bit north of here.   The farm has a pristine creek that runs through it, about 1/2 mile worth. It is gravelly and shallow but has several decent swimming holes!! Recently after a good rain ,I was able to tube over a mile. Also in our county is a very lovely TVA lake called Center Hill Lake. There is also the Caney Fork River. Kayaks canoes, pontoon boats can be rented there at the lake, or bring your own.  The yurt is on the edge of a field but in the woods, so it has a great vista of the hills out across the "bottoms" or fields, When there is a full moon it is spectacular. We are very excited about sharing it with others!! Learn more about this land: Come enjoy a cozy yurt on a working farm in the historic Dry Creek Valley community! The yurt includes a full kitchen, separate bathroom with claw foot tub, washing machine, and a composting toilet. There is a small cedar bedroom with loft attached to the yurt for additional sleeping space. Have your dinner on the big deck or by the campfire ring as you watch the fireflies dance over the field below!  We have a really beautiful creek that runs approximately 3/4 mile through the farm and includes a swimming hole that is available for hip campers to use. It is crystal clear water with many critters intriguing to children  and adults alike. There is a cemetery dating to the early 1800s that is a short hike from the yurt. We have lovely logging roads and potential for exploring through the woods. The topography here is unique and rugged, with bluffs, caves, and creeks. The third largest cave in TN, Indian Grave Point is 1/4 mile from the farm. The farm is located a short drive from Center Hill Lake Where you can rent a boat or canoe, fish, and swim. ***Sheets and towels are not provided, so please plan accordingly! ***There are two beds  and a small cot available, but plenty of camping space and floor space for larger groups. Bring your own tent and bedding.
