We stayed for 2 nights (M-W) and had the area to ourselves. It was wonderful. The Sheila, the campground manager was very helpful and we had regular sittings of a pair of Golden Eagles. Leaving Townsend, we passed a couple of campgrounds with RV's and tents packed in. This made us aware of how special our site was.

Nice place with camping spots close to the river and also some spots that are a little farther from the water. There are restaurants/ coffee shops/ gas stations pretty close, but it is also close to trailheads in the park.

We stayed one night while driving through and plan to return for a longer stay. Sheila was very welcoming, the other guests were respectful and everyone had a great time.
The river is very clean and fun to play in, the morning mist really shows you why it's called the Smokey Mtns!

I only have great things to say about the camp ground and the owners. The camp ground was clean and tidy with amazing camp sites right on the water. The owners were nice and very helpful. If you are looking for a camp ground that is not over booked and campsites are spaced out this is it. The camp ground is just across the river from tube, kayak and paddle board rental. I highly recommend this camp ground

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this campsite on the Little River. Sheila and her husband were so helpful with set-up and tips for the area. We stayed in an RV site with electric and water hookups. The site was right on the hill overlooking the river. There was a great spot to swim in the river (very clear with a rocky bottom) or fish to the far left of the camping area. The entire campground was gorgeous and so relaxing. We also were able to walk over to the River Rat tubing company to tube the river. I highly recommend this- it was a great, refreshing way to spend 2 hours. There are two routes to choose from: A (smaller rapids and lazy river sections... ages 2+) and B (bigger rapids and similar lazy river section....ages 6+) we did A due to having two preschoolers with us, but those that did B said the rapids were fun, but not scary.

We had such a great stay we extended it. Had planned to move into Cades Cove National Campground, but after seeing our spot there, we decided to stay put here. Much nicer. Much quieter. Much more space for privacy. We had the place to ourselves for the most part. So peaceful and quiet. Sheila was awesome. Would definitely recommend.

The host Sheila was very friendly and helpful in finding the perfect spot for my girlfriend and I to have a relaxing and private stay. The place was conveniently located to all the trails and spots we wanted to see in the Great Smokey mountain national park. The campsite was awesome and literally right on the river. Would definitely stay again! If your on the fence about it just book, you won’t regret it! Happy camping! 🤙

Shelia was an excellent hostess. We were running a bit late and she waited for us to show us our site and make sure we were set up and comfortable. The property was beautiful and clean. She even showed me how to use our RV's canopy. Thanks Shelia!

Primitive camping on Little River was a quite, peaceful setting. Large, mature trees flank the river’s edge. Enjoyed a campfire under the stars. Sheila was a wonderful host who met us at the top of the hill and helped us find our spot. She was very attentive to our needs. Whether you’ve got an RV or a tent, there’s a perfect spot here for you. Unlike most of the RV parks in Townsend, this one has room for you to breathe and enjoy the serenity without sitting on top of your neighbors. A few sites have full utility hookup. Most do not. Also, it would be helpful to add a bathroom/shower house. Sheila told me this was coming in the future. I would definitely come back..

We’ve stayed here before and will definitely stay here again. For the price, it’s so much better than staying in the National Park. It’s much quieter and the restrooms are always in good shape. I’m sure we’ll be back again very soon!

PRIMITIVE CAMPING ON LITTLE RIVER
The property was very nice as was Sheila. She was very accommodating to us as we arrived later than anticipated. This place seems really great for families, but the campsites can be pretty close together therefore not a place where you can get a little rowdy later at night by the fire without disturbing others nearby. Would recommend for people looking for a chill spot but not as much for friends looking to “party” a little bit more.

Large lush green property right on the river. Tons of shade trees. A few RV pads and lots of tent camping sites. Pretty much had the property to ourselves. Our dog could run for days. A few restaurants and store a short drive away. Town was pretty quiet as river tubing season hadn’t started yet. Our hosts Sheila and Cleeve were so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommended staying here if you’re in the area.

This place is a little piece of heaven! Our camping site was by the Little River and gave us the opportunity to paddle board. The birds are in abundance and all the nature and campsite in general is wonderfully kept. We basically spend 4 days in paradise. We loved it so much that we will camp again in a few weeks. Sheila is a sweetheart and her husband is wonderful too!! In all an amazing experience.

This is hands down one of our best camping experiences and we do a lot of camping! Sheila and her husband are creating a remarkable campground. Whether you are an RV, pull behind, or off grid tent camper, they have beautiful spaces for everyone! We camped by the river and loved it! To top it all off, Sheila and her husband are the most hospitable, gracious, and down to earth people you’ll ever meet! We loved talking and visiting with them! We loved this place so much we’re almost afraid to tell how great it is for fear of giving away the secret!!! Thank you Sheila! We had an awesome tome!!

Awesome location!
Very quiet, not a lot of people on a Friday night.
Spots are spaced out and you pretty much get to pick your own. Very dog friendly and Sheila is an amazing host. The fields were mowed down nicely and the sound of the little stream running to the creek made us sleep like babies.
Firewood is available onsite for purchase.

Very friendly hosts. They’re developing the spot into an RV park. We stayed in an RV spot by the river for a couple nights. Good views, quiet, and spacious!

Land was beautiful we camped on... right next to a river and close to town but still felt like we were secluded and in nature. Hosts were great, very responsive and friendly. Thanks for a great stay! Would definitely come back.
