Horse Shoe Bend is a unique campground known for its stunning lake shaped like a horseshoe, a feature that dates back to 1794. This picturesque location, situated just four miles downstream from Great Falls, offers visitors a serene escape into nature. In the 1920s, Horse Shoe Bend was home to the Webb School Camp, which began as a "summer school" near the site of Hi-Lake Camp. This camp was established and managed by Professors W.R. Webb and G.W. Follin from the renowned Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. Over the first decade, the camp evolved from an educational program into a recreational haven, providing a variety of outdoor activities for its attendees. Around 1918, the camp relocated to the well-known site of Old Bailiff Ferry, where it continued to thrive until its closure in 1939. Today, Horse Shoe Bend remains a cherished destination for those seeking adventure and relaxation, with nearby attractions including natural features, swimming holes, and opportunities for hiking and fishing. Visitors can also explore local restaurants and shops, making it a perfect spot for a memorable getaway.
