The forest along this stream is one of the most ancient in the region, saved from logging by the fact that hemlock trees make poor timber.  Ancient trees that predate the United States tower overhead.  The trail that leads to the campsite follows an old prohibition-era dirt road that provided access to a moonshine still beside the steam (check out the cool remains of the still site, including the hole that a sheriff shot in its side to decommission the illegal still!).

Camp streamside in a hemlock forest
We really enjoyed our time at this campsite! The walk in makes you feel more removed from society but also allows for the convenience of car camping. The stream and huge trees were beautiful. Only downside was the neighbor's noisy roosters, but it made us feel more at one with nature!🤣 we would definitely consider staying here again.
