This is a campsite for those who want the best of both worlds, the serenity of the Australian Bush, but close to all the modern conveniences and holiday activities. Surrounded by the Hindmarsh Valley National Park and a working sheep farm, you’ll be sharing this campsite with the local kangaroos, and if you’re lucky, an echidna or two. There’s a creek running through, and vibrant bird life. Nearby is a beautiful bush-walk through the Mount Billy Conservation Park. Situated half way between Myponga and Victor Harbor, only 15 minutes to either, there are many activities available. Kayaking on the Myponga reservoir, or surfing, swimming and sun bathing at either Horseshoe Bay or Waitpinga. Urimbirra wildlife park is less than 10 minutes away, and around the corner is the Softfoot Alpaca Farm, with the on-site Swagman Restaurant. Also in Hindmarsh Valley is the lovely restaurant Lost Phoenix Farm.Pitch your tent, or pull up your caravan and enjoy a campfire, season permitting. There are plenty of chatty sheep and cows in surrounding paddocks, and the kangaroos like to bounce past during the night. Wake up to the birds and golden sunrises. If you want to explore a little, gum boots are highly recommended. Please note, this property is a disused cattle farm, with hazardous relics of its past. There are some steep cliffs without guard rails, a deceptively deep water and a broken bridge, meaning children must be supervised at all times.

Such a lovely spot to camp. Close to everything. Easy access. Peaceful & quiet. Stunning views. We brought our 2yo daughter who had an absolute ball with Luke & Elissia’s beautiful dog Lola. We would definitely stay again 😀

Rocky Dale Campsite
Luke has a beautiful property and in a great location for touring the southern coastline and close to amenities if you forget something! It is quite close to the road however that didn’t bother us at all as it is a very quiet road with only had a handful of cars during the day with none went past at night. Saw kangaroos and loved that is was just a single campsite that we had just to ourselves. We would definitely stay again.

Rocky Dale Campsite
We had an amazing time. It's a beautiful spot, and Luke was a great host, even offering us extra firewood on the second night, and his dog Lola visited us daily for a play with the kids. It's secluded while being close to things to do, we drove to Port Elliott and Horseshoe Bay for the day. The only drawback is that the campsite is really close to a sealed road, not a main road but it's busy enough, and we were close enough to make eye contact and wave to drivers as they went past!

Loved Rocky Dale!
We had a great weekend at the Rocky Dale site. It has lovely views on hills and is right adjacent to a conservation park. There is a small creek running through a gully lower from the site. The site itself is a nice grassy spot with a large gum tree in the centre perfect for providing some shade. There is a nice rock lined firepit further up in the field for campfires for which the owner kindly provided some firewood. The site is slightly on a slope but we managed to get our trailer level Ok. The only thing to note is that the site is off Nettle Hill Rd and there is some visibility from infrequent traffic. The owners dogs visited us on the last day only briefly once. Had a quick sniffle and they were off again. Very friendly and shy dogs. What was a pleasant surprise was how close the site was to a number of nice attractions and top restaurants. The first one is the Softfoot Farm which is an Alpaca farm and a wildlife sanctuary which also have a nice restaurant for lunches. The second one is The Lost Phoenix Farm which we found to be a little gem. Very easy going, very friendly staff and really nice food. Thirdly are the Hindmarsh Falls. And all within less than 10 minutes drive from Nettle Hill Rd. Victor Harbor is also only about a 15m drive.
