Waterloo County Park stands out as a unique destination, offering a sprawling 128-acre oasis nestled along the scenic banks of the South Santiam River. This picturesque park is perfect for families seeking a blend of outdoor adventure and relaxation, featuring opportunities for fishing, hiking, swimming, and unwinding in its shaded areas. Visitors can enjoy year-round camping, fishing, hiking, and picnicking amidst the park's stunning natural landscape. For camping enthusiasts, Waterloo County Park provides 109 reservable campsites, along with 11 first-come, first-serve sites in the B-loop, which accept cash only. During peak holiday weekends such as Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day, a three-night minimum stay is required, while a two-night minimum applies to other weekends. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, and sites can be booked up to nine months ahead of your arrival. The South Santiam River, originating in the Cascade Mountains, is renowned for its Chinook salmon and summer steelhead fishing. Spring Chinook can be found in the river from late April through early July, with the peak occurring in May. For fishing aficionados, the park features two boat ramps one above the falls and one below making it.
