Beautiful Location, Electric Unsafe
The Tyee Farm camp space has a lot of potential. It's on a very usable section of the river--great for both swimming and fishing. There's a lot of open space for a group gathering and I was thrilled to find a spot with electricity for our AC, since it was in the low 90's while we were there. That said, we did have several concerns during our stay.
Upon arrival at the address, there was a gate across the driveway with a no trespassing sign on it. This made it a safety hazard since there wasn't enough room to clear the highway in a long rig. It wasn't locked, so we opened it and followed the host's instructions on where to go. I also called and left him a message to let him know we had arrived.
When we went to hook up to electricity, the whole electrical mount and pvc pipes had extensive fire damage, exposing the electrical wires. We immediately texted the host but he said that it was safe to use. It didn't look or feel safe, so we used it sparingly and kept a watchful eye on it. There was no 30 amp that was advertised in the description, only 4 household 110 outlets.
Also notable, the description of the site says there is a trash bin available and there was none.
I would recommend this site to someone who wants to dry camp, but it certainly isn't worth $100+ per night with no electrical hook ups.

Good Fishing
My husband says, “Best small mouth fishing I’ve ever done.” My daughter and husband spent the whole time fishing. My daughter caught around 40 fish in two days. I enjoyed sitting on the bank in my chair watching. I felt safe letting my 2 dogs run around. It was very private. We brought paddle boards and tubes. They fished from the paddle boards and the last day Brent let them use a pontoon boat. The campsite was not too far from the road, but far enough that we still felt like we were camping. Then we walked down a small dirt road to get to the water. We spent most of our time down by the water. We definitely want to come back.

Good, not great.
Overall, my family was able to have a good, comfortable trip. However there were some cons that I feel would have been nice to have been aware of before hand.
1. The property is about 2-300 yards from a highway and you hear and see traffic the entire time, day and night.
2. The main part of the property that you can camp on is completely exposed, is just an open field. The other part where there are trees was covered in broken blackberry branches, sticks, brush, etc.
3. Access to the river is not as easy or convenient as it appears in the ad. It's down a very narrow, very steep, very primitive path. It would be next to impossible to get down without 4 wheel drive and there is no way you can carry kayaks, boats, etc up and down that path. It would be brutal.
4. I believe because of these issues that the site is overpriced.

Great spot right next to the river with plenty of room to spread out and relax.

Camping on the umpqua!
The section of the river we were on was gorgeous, the fishing was definitely abundant, there was plenty of room for 30 people, some of which were in tents, and others were in trailers. The owner of the property recommended Tomasellis for breakfast which was spectacular and the quick access to Elkton and a store literally a minute away was super convenient! I also highly recommended popping in to see the butterflies at the sanctuary in Elkton.
