Welcome to Rogue River Stargazing Basecamp, a peaceful 44-acre camping property near Merlin, Oregon, located just under 2 miles from the Rogue River boat launch at Robertson Bridge. Only 15 minutes from Grants Pass and close to the Redwood Highway, this land makes an ideal Rogue River camping basecamp for fishing trips, rafting adventures, vanlife travelers, and anyone exploring Southern Oregon. The property features rolling meadows, mature madrone and oak trees, and wide open skies across the Rogue Valley. Wildlife regularly passes through the land, and a small pond attracts ducks and native birds throughout the day. The property borders BLM public land, helping maintain a natural wildlife corridor and giving the landscape a spacious, uncrowded feel. Guests can choose from several camping styles, including open meadow RV camping spots, shaded tent camping areas, and more secluded tent sites farther up the property near the madrone trees. Select RV sites offer water and electric hookups, while self-contained RVs and vans with solar setups or generators are also welcome. This location is perfect for outdoor recreation along the Rogue River. The Robertson Bridge launch provides easy access for Rogue River fishing, boating, rafting, kayaking, and canoeing, and several outfitters operate nearby in Merlin. From here it’s also an easy drive along the Redwood Highway toward the California Redwoods and Pacific Coast, making this a convenient stop for Pacific Northwest road trips. Evenings here are one of the highlights of the property. The open meadow landscape and minimal surrounding development create big Southern Oregon night skies and excellent stargazing on clear nights. This is a relaxed rural setting along Robertson Bridge Road. Traffic is generally light but may occasionally be heard. Our neighbors across the road operate a small chicken farm, so roosters may crow early in the morning and occasionally during the day. If you’re looking for Rogue River camping near Grants Pass with space, nature, and dark skies, this is a wonderful place to land.

Pondside Meadow View Campsites

RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 20 ft
Pondside Campsite is a peaceful wooded camp spot tucked near the pond, with trees, open sky, and a quiet rural feeling. This site sits away from the main house, with the pond creating a natural separation between the campsite area and the private residence. This is a great spot for campers who want a simple, nature-forward stay near the Rogue River. It works well for tent campers, couples, small families, anglers, rafters, kayakers, and travelers looking for a calm basecamp close to Merlin and Grants Pass. The site has room for tent camping only. All vehicles can park up the road a few yards in our large flat RV and parking area at the base of the hill towards the back of the property. Depending on your setup, there may be space for a small van or compact camper vehicle to park off the side of the road on the way to the campsite. Larger RVs should book one of the designated RV spots instead. This is a rustic dry-camping site. Please bring your own water, camp kitchen setup, and supplies. A water hose and porta potty may be available depending on the season and current setup. Please be aware this is a wildlife area. Many varieties of birds, including large cranes, can be seen enjoying the pond throughout the day. We often have deer and other animals coming down off the hill to the water in the early mornings. Please respect the wildlife habitat and help keep it clean of garbage, glass, and any forms of hunting. Waking up next to the pond, enjoying breakfast at the picnic table, and heading out to the Rogue River for a day of rafting or fishing — that's what this basecamp is made for.
