Fox Hill Campground stands out as a hidden gem in the Mount Emily Recreation Area (MERA) near La Grande, Oregon, offering campers a unique opportunity for a free, off-grid experience amidst breathtaking natural beauty. Perched at an elevation of 3,772 feet, this rustic campground features eight primitive sites—four pull-through and four back-in—each providing stunning views of La Grande below. Accessing the campground involves navigating a steep 17% grade gravel road, which is manageable for most vehicles, although 4WD is recommended for larger rigs. While amenities are minimal, they are functional; there are no hookups or potable water, but vault toilets are conveniently located at the trailhead. Each campsite includes a fire ring, and campers should be mindful of seasonal fire restrictions. Cell service is generally reliable, with both Verizon and AT&T offering 4G coverage in the area. Fox Hill Campground is adjacent to the MERA Motocross Track and Kid’s Track, making it a favored destination for off-highway vehicle (OHV) enthusiasts. The surrounding area boasts trails suitable for all OHV classes, including 4x4s, motorcycles, ATVs, and side-by-sides. Although camping is free, there is a 14-day stay limit
