This retreat is located in the middle of an industrial area of Youngstown. As you go up the drive you'll find that the city slips away as you suddenly find yourself in a different peaceful world. Overgrown brush and woods completely surround the property. You'll find a hilly field scattered with a few trees. There is a small shallow creek running along one side of the perimeter. This is a primative cabin with a shared portapotty walking distance. This retreat is located in the middle of an industrial area of Youngstown. Primative Shed Cabin
We had a really fun stay here. It was a cool experience being in a natural oasis in the middle of the city. The dog had plenty of room to explore. The cabin was nice and comfortable andI secure. I will be coming back again in the future.

Great experience
We stayed two nights, booked independently of each other, this is why I have 2 reviews of ELWR. The booking of the site and the communication with Sandra was flawless, you will receive the code to the gate and since we stayed in the cabin, received the cabin lock code as well. The cabin contains a full size bed, 2 chairs and a table inside, it is also pet friendly so we were able to travel with our pooch. It was clean inside and did not contain any bedding other than fitted sheet over mattress. This is a full on primitive camp minus the tent setup. We did have room to popup a 12x12 in front of the cabin. The grounds itself was not rutted or muddy (we did show up on rainy day and setup, at the end of 2 days the property was muddy in front on cabin) we were able to drive in and out without issues. I absolutely love the fire ring on the property, we had a fire one night. Wood available onsite. Another couple setup tent camp down below us while we were there. The onsite porta john was clean and maintained and just a short walk from the cabin. As for the ambiance of the location, you must realize you are in a city, beauty and nature surround you, however the industrialized world and people continue to move forward while you are "camping". There is no water/electric/dump station/garbage onsite, pack in, pack out. We were able to order Bellaria pizza through Doordash and had it delivered. Overall, this is a hidden gem and also a value for camping. We look forward to returning!

Nice place to camp
We are avid campers and have spent nights in a multitude of locations. The booking of the site and the communication with Sandra was flawless, you will receive the code to the gate and since we stayed in the cabin, received the cabin lock code as well. The cabin contains a full size bed, 2 chairs and a table inside, it is also pet friendly so we were able to travel with our pooch. The grounds itself was not rutted or muddy (we did show up on rainy day and setup, at the end of 2 days the property was muddy in front on cabin) however I do wish I had rubber boots to enjoy the property some more and we were able to drive in and out without issues. We did not encounter any other people/campers on this night we stayed. The onsite porta john was clean and maintained and just a short walk from the cabin. As for the ambiance of the location, you must realize you are in a city, beauty and nature surround you, however the industrialized world and people continue to move forward while you are "camping". Great Location/Price/Property/Host!
I enjoyed my stay at Sandra's property. It's spacious yet cozy and private and a great location. It's just a 9 minute drive to Mill Creek Metroparks! When I got to the property I realized that I didn't have the code to unlock the entrance lock! I texted her and waited. Not 2 minutes later she texted me back with the code! Then again for the code for the shed/cabin! So attentive. Major props for that! Because it had rained the day before I parked my car on the driveway, across from the cabin, and walked my stuff in. The ground between driveway and cabin was indeed very squishy. For tent campers who might be nervous about muddy wet ground...I walked around most of the property and where you would set up tents the grassy ground is compacted and flat with no squishy areas so you should be okay if it rains. There are two campers on the property which I assume is only for the owner when she stays. You can tell she has put a lot of effort and love into the land. I was the only one there during my stay which was nice. :-) You can't beat the price! $10 to tent and $20 for the cabin! That's crazy cheap. I'll probably be back to tent so I can finish checking out more of the Metropark, Mill, and Riverside Garden, which was amazing. The toilet was clean with plenty of toilet paper. One thing I wish tho is that she would have a gate installed. Right now there is a very heavy chain crossing the driveway that takes some strength to pull up and lock in place.

Adventure Awaits!
Just discovered this hidden oasis thanks to a travel blog tip! Despite initial doubts driving through a sketchy urban area, my trusty 2wd compact sedan conquered the rugged driveway like a champ. And wow, beyond the trees lies a natural wonder—a shelter made out of a repurposed shed, straight out of a hiking or tiny home magazine! Sure, it lacks electricity, heating, and running water, but the price tag for this wilderness weekend escape was unbeatable. Okay, you might catch a faint whiff of city life, but with Austintown nearby, brimming with all of the drive through fast food options, convenience meets nature in the most Instagram-worthy way! 🌲✨
