Travelers Rest RV Resort (Previously known as Optimist Park) is a historic campground located off of HWY 181. Enjoy the swimming hole where Steels Creek and Upper Creek converge. Limited RV sites are available for guest to enjoy a less crowded and private stay. Bring your family for a visit. Enjoy popular nearby attractions during your visit. Such as Linville caverns, Lake James, Wilson Creek, Brown Mountain Overlook and OHV trails a couple miles away. If you stay with us in the winter, you can visit Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing. Go for a short mountain hike around this 50-acre property to enjoy breath taking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Table Rock.

Your RV site is beside the creek where you can sit by the water and tan. Or you can jump into the cool water on a hot day. Take the hiking trail on the property and enjoy nature or walk up the road and up the hill to the very top to take in a breath-taking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Table Rock. Bring Your bicycles and protection to ride around the property. At night, roast marshmallows over the fire while you settle down for a relaxing night.
