Cook your own meals or try and catch your own fish from the river. Campsites can be secluded or grouped. Each site comes with a picnic table, 1 bundle of wood and trash can. Stay for a night or longer period of time, come and enjoy the outdoors with us. We have lots of walking trails, fishing access, wildlife, kayaking and tubing (must be purchased through us). 2WD vehicles are ok except during wet conditions. There is also the Vollmer Farm, with seasonal produce a Full Coffee Shop with breakfast goodies and baked goods and not to mention their fabulous ice cream. They have goods from around NC including, eggs, honey, meats, beers, wine and more. There is a grocery store (Food Lion) about 15 minutes away. Tar River Tent Camping(1-3 tents)
The best camping spot EVER!!!!!
It was a very peaceful camping spot right on a creek bed that provided enough space where we weren’t sleeping on top of one another. It was also nice that there was enough space between campsites where we didn’t have to worry about bothering other campers. The commodities were nice and although it was hot out a fire was the perfect way to end the night.

My wife and I had an amazing time at our campsite. We had site 7 which had a lot of shade and a nice breeze. It was perfect site for the summer. The hosts were great and checked up on us at least once a day.

Dirty river but awesome campground
Note, this not a self-check in location and host will contact you ahead of your stay to sign a waiver and you’ll meet with host to gain entry to the campground the day of your reservation. We camped for 1 night on a weekday, so we had the place all to ourselves and my dogs loved exploring freely and swimming in the Tar River. Unfortunately, both dogs did get sick after drinking from this river (which appeared pretty polluted), so please keep an eye on your pets as the water isn’t safe to drink. Across the river from the campground is a golf course, so you’ll occasionally hear chatter and noise coming from the golfers (balls hit, carts whirring). There is no cell signal, so be prepared to unplug and unwind. Overall, I would recommend this Hipcamp as the sites and amenities are lovely, but I would not allow my pets to swim in the river for safety purposes.

Loved that we were spread out from other campers. It was so nice to have wood there when we arrived, and we loved tying our tubes to the bank and floating right by our campsite. The potty tents were great too!

Great spot right on the river. Sites have nice barriers of woods in between and plenty of shade coverage. All-around very easy and laid back experience. Appreciate Nikki sharing her land.

I loved camping here. Billy was amazing at attending to us and making sure all needs were met the best he could. The site was perfect for our family. They offer tubing and have a farm as well with AMAZING ice cream. Highly recommend this location!
