This 1983 Ford Blue Bird bus has been one of NC's most popular Airbnb's over the last several years. It has since been relocated, renovated, rejuvenated and found its way to the perfect location on our farm. Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the blueridge mountains, this one of a kind getaway is perfect for couples, small families or individuals. You can have your morning coffee or stargaze at night from the rooftop deck, which boasts an amazing view of the South Mountains. We are conveniently located between Charlotte and Asheville and are within 30 minutes of Shelby, Hickory, Forest City, Morganton and Marion. Just a short drive is the beautiful South Mountains State Park, which is the perfect place for hiking or a picnic. Also within a short distance is Yogi Bear Campground with Blue Ridge Mountain Coaster and the new Cherry Bounce Adventure Park. We also partner with local wedding venues that are also very convenient to our location. Some of these include Zimmerwald Estate, Farm Haven, The Venue at Don's Pond, Mountain View Barn and Venue, Creekside Farm Venue and The Farm at Belwood. Other attractions include Tryon Equestrian Center, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. You can find plenty to do nearby or you can just sit by the fire, relax and enjoy the beauty here around us. You will enjoy a peaceful and private location surrounded by 65 acres of farmland. On site, there is a nice trail through the woods that leads to a beautiful creek area with a picnic table and fire pit. This is a working farm so you may hear or see an occasional tractor or side by side passing nearby. Across the road is our historic farmhouse that was built in 1880, which is also a vacation rental. This property is over 200 acres with cattle and a couple horses. It is common to see deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife in the area. *We do allow pets, but we have a pet fee of $40 per pet for up to 2. This has to be selected when booking as an "extra." We do ask that you keep pets off of furniture and clean up after them outside to keep things nice for the next guests.*Rustic Ridge has a beautiful view of the South Mountains, which is a part of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rooftop Skoolie

We spent the weekend in the bus and absolutely loved it! The kids loved the driver's seat and the sitting area upstairs. It was an awesome night escape with nothing but the stars above. They have thought of literally everything you need. The view and atmosphere were lovely! It's a nice place to forget the city life. We will definitely do it again. The host is very attentive and pleasant.

Rooftop Skoolie

We had the best time on Steven’s land in the Rooftop Skoolie! Steven was an extremely gracious and communicative host, and we felt incredibly cared and provided for throughout the entire trip! The bus sits at the backside of a beautiful property and feels completely private. We opted for Steven to provide a bundle of firewood for us, and a large, dry stack was waiting for us when we arrived! While sitting around the fire pit, you’ll enjoy mountain views and wide open rolling hay fields. We loved roasting marshmallows and catching fireflies in the evening. The newly constructed “outhouse” (toilet, shower, and laundry) was gorgeous, clean, and climate controlled, which made getting cleaned up after a long hot day of hiking a real treat. The bus itself was a highlight of the trip for my two boys. They loved sitting behind the wheel, pressing all of the switches and buttons, and operating the door for us to move in and out. The interior has been carefully designed and crafted to maximize utility without sacrificing comfort. While we did spend most of our time outdoors, we were all able to sleep comfortably inside. There’s a small selection of card and board games that we played at the picnic table during downtime and didn’t feel the need to turn the TV on at all. If you’re looking for a special weekend getaway close to hiking, swimming, waterfalls, fishing, mountain biking, paddling, and so much more, look no further than the Rooftop Skoolie! 10/10 would recommend!
