Down by the River

Next to a river and owner had many friendly dogs. Host and family themselves were incredibly friendly and helpful. Not as private as would have liked but site was still very nice.

The site was not as remote feeling as I expected based on reviews I read, but it was fine. The weather played into our experience somewhat - hot and rainy. The host was excellent and made us feel very welcome. The train traffic was not an issue as some reviews indicated.

Beautiful sites and farm, and right in the river. Host was very helpful and friendly. Definitely worth going. Right by the train, so if you are a light sleeper be aware.

Great little property for a quick getaway. Easily accessible with AWD vehicle. Very quiet, only 2 trains went by while we were there.

Excellent site, easy to navigate and setup! Host was great, very easy going and generous. River access can be challenging depending on storm flow but there's a kayak launch and large/small mouth bass were hitting. (Ram 1500 + 34' Travel Trailer + 2 dogs)

We are still new to Hipcamp. I hope all of our experiences are like this one. Fletcher is a great host. Very accommodating. The property is well groomed and peaceful. The river's edge is scenic tranquil. We hope to make it back.

A perfect weekend getaway

We brought our camper and my sister camped next to us in a tent. He had water and waste removal available. He provided us with a fire basket and also allowed us to build a bigger fire to allow for camp pie coals. He even allowed us to ride a zip line we noticed on the property! He has dogs, but they are well behaved and just came over to sniff around for a few minutes while outside. The property is near a small train track as well so we did hear a train a few times but it was quick, and no bother at all(just something to note). He and his son were so kind. They brought over baby bunnies for the kids to pet. We parked pretty close to his workshop, but didn’t even notice if he was in there. We sat around our fire, listened to music, and enjoyed the outdoors. It was a perfect weekend getaway.

Perfect place to camp. Fletcher and family were more than accommodating, even letting us use his riverfront property in the woods to pitch a tent. Treated us like family. Kids loved the River and the train. Lots of shade on hot summer days. We will definitely be back!

Already planning return w/friends!

Fantastic property and host! We love of this spot. We knew it was on the river and that's why we chose it but we're returning for much more. Fletcher and his family are fantastic and enjoyable. We camped on the field with the chickens which provided loads of entertainment for us and our dog. Isaac (son) delivered us some fresh eggs which were amazing. Solid 50a power & well water make this a good spot for a longer-term stay. The property is uniquely beautiful, it's situated on the Dan with loads of river front. There is a boat launch that we used for a take out for our kayaks. Fletcher generously waited for us to make sure we didn't miss it and helped us pull out too. It's very private but just minutes away from supplies, food and entertainment. We will be back with friends who will stay in the Airstream he has on AirB&B and sits directly on the river. Thank you for your hospitality Fletcher and family, we'll see you again soon!

Perfect Car Camping Location

My 14-year-old son and I had an excellent time camping on Fletcher's land. He allowed us to stay in a very private and secluded area right next to the Dan River, which is shallow and walkable in the area. It was beautiful, with tall old-growth trees everywhere. It was close to some well-used freight train tracks, but we didn't mind that at all. My son loved seeing the trains come through. I would absolutely recommend Fletcher's Camp to anyone looking for a quiet, private getaway. He was a great host and checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We'll be back!

We loved our stay! Our host was gracious and helpful. We allowed our dog off leash and she thoroughly enjoyed the property too. There’s lots to explore. This is a peaceful farm in the country right on the river. We highly recommend it!

Nice setting on a country farm with water and electric. The only draw back is that the sites are not secluded and don’t over look the river. I had to go somewhere else because I was concerned my dogs would try and eat their guineas! You can not let your dogs free here.
