Primitive camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Approximately 0.75 acre of land (mowed grass and partially wooded) situated on a dead end road. Six foot privacy fence to separate you from the occasional passerby. Includes fire pit and picnic table. The wooded area provides nice shade for your tent. Enjoy the sound of the small stream running through the property while you relax by the fire. Sugar Hill State Forest is just down the road where you can enjoy many activities such as hiking and wild life watching. Seneca Lake is apx. 20 minutes away, where you can swim, kayak, boat, fish or simply sit on the shore at Clute Park and take in the view. We are also in the heart of wine country.Enjoy peace and quiet at this private site located on a dead end road. A short 15 minute drive to Watkins Glen puts you close to the conveniences of town, yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle to maintain your serenity. Beautiful natural looking wood fence separates you from the road. Use the large open area for yard games (games not provided at this time), then relax around the fire pit before heading off to bed in the trees where the soothing sound of the small creek will ease you to sleep. Picnic table, fire ring, cooking grate, and some fire starting supplies are provided. Firewood is not provided, however, you may purchase some down the road (about 6 miles east of camp down CR 16). Local activities include hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, wine/beer tasting and much much more.
If you are looking for a quick bite to eat or a refreshing drink, there is a bar called Matt's Place just down the road (apx. 1 mile west of camp, down CR 16). There is also a small convenience store/gas station right next door to Matt's Place.
Most of the property has a slight slope to it, however, there are a few level spots for tents. Feel free to pitch your tent anywhere in the grassy area or the cleared out woods area. Please do not wonder beyond these areas and please do not cross the stream. There is one neighbor across the road and one neighbor down the hill, far enough away to maintain your privacy. Please be respectful of these neighbors and keep noise to a minimum.
There is a small shed on the property, guests will not have access to this shed.
